In 1996, war hero Bob Dole, who literally gave his right arm for the country, took one on the chin for the Republicans because nobody was going to beat Clinton that year.

If Clinton were inevitable, then he would have reached more than 49% of the vote, which he didn't.

If Romney’s on the ticket, VOTE GRIDLOCK (Repubs in House/Senate, anybody-but-Romney for president). Gridlock hasn’t done too bad for the last year, except for the dumbass Repubs being fooled into letting the Dems cut the military. The government isn’t doing much except for what Obama thinks he can do with executive orders. That could lead to lawsuits against him. And those can be overturned by the next president in one day.

We can be sure that if Romney gets in and “tinkers” with Obamacare it’ll never go away. Another president in 4 years can still get rid of it if it remains Obama’s baby. If it’s overturned by the SC this year then I can’t think of any good reason Romney would be better than gridlock. I certainly don’t trust Romney to appoint conservative SC justices...that’s one thing RINOs always fail on. With Republicans in Congress, we at least have a chance to cut spending and shame Obama into signing it. Big-spending Repubs didn’t work out so well in the W era anyway.

I certainly agree with your list. Mitt Romney's nomination accomplishes the following:

1. provides the man who the fewest of the grassroots GOP base will vote for (let alone donate/work for) and thereby keeps the White House in Obama's hands

2. wipes out any down-ticket boosts to other GOP candidates

3. implodes the GOP in a Whig-reminiscent debacle

4. demoralizes the tea party movement

5. allows MSM/Democrat proxies to morally destroy the LDS during the general election.

Win, win, win, win and win. "Gee whiz, dad- that Alinsky fellow sure is smart," said Mitt Romney.

I am 64 years old and I agree with you 100%.

Anyone telling me that if I don't support the selected (bought!!)RINO candidate means I am insuring Obama for another four years is pissing in the wind!!

I am amazed at the trusted (?) conservative voices who have so quickly embraced a moderate (left-leaning I might add): Coulter, Drudge, Fox News, Krauthammer, etc., etc., etc.

Thank you Jim Robinson, Fred Thompson and Rick Perry for standing up against the prevailing moderate winds...

Perhaps other "conservatives" will join you when the winds have died down and its safe once again to go into the boat.

And Souter doesn’t cancel out Thomas? Because he literally does just that every time. Bush lost because he broke the “no new taxes” pledge.

People forget a 3rd party Republican ran in 1980 and Reagan still won, with less than 50% of the vote.

The Dems got trounced in the House by Newt in 1994. Why was Clinton suddenly a lock in 1996? Didn’t take long for Newt to get the country on the right track I guess.

Yet... the same guy was the FACE of the most far reaching conservative legislation since Ronald Reagan was President. Really, Contract For America probably stands second only to the Reagan Tax Cuts, and Newt was the guy on that, he wasn’t just bragging.

I prefer a Reaganite. You know, Gingrich. The one that has the party elites hysterical.

Paraphrasing she who can no longer be named, electability gave us losers Ford, Bush I, Dole, McLame. Supporting and voting for the crazy right winger gave us Ronald Reagan!

The only one with real balls I voted for was President Reagan in 1984 and this was my first election since I was 18. The rest ever since, I help my nose while voting !

> I’m in my early 30’s and have NEVER had a candidate with some real balls to vote for as president.

Ron Paul is no leader. Doesn’t even want to be president. He’s just making a statement and getting paid megabucks to do it.

could say that we need to learn to STOP voting for state supremacists, no what the party affiliation. But it’s a little too late for that, I fear. Now, there’s a butcher’s bill to be paid.

Seriously. It's Game Over, at this point. I don't think there's a damned thing that can be done. MAYBE after the United States collapses into regional countries, MAYBE we can reform a Reunited States..... but expect the Second Amendment to be gutted.
