LOL. I'll have my psychiatrist husband read that column. He usually thinks this shrink is out of his mind!

Ablow is hit or miss lol. Sometimes he’s right on the mark, sometimes way off.

Well put, and although I'm not much of a Gingrich fan, I'm not impressed with the way Santorum is conducting himself in this matter. He's directing all of his bile at Gingrich while basically ignoring the establishment pick.

While he may be doing the bidding of the beltway establishment, I find his behavior repulsive considering the overall picture and what is at stake. He's no longer seems to be in it to win, but in it to drag down Gingrich as he knows he will not beat Romney in a head to head match regardless of the Iowa results.

I'm very interested to see how he acts towards the remaining contestants once he finally does bow out.

At this point, Santorum and Romney are uninspiring, and I won't even bother to critique Paul the Kook, and regardless of baggage Gingrich is getting voters fired up. That type of reaction is critical and may actually help him keep Romney from getting the nomination.

At this point it really is down to 2 people, Gingrich and Romney. Santorums actions over the next 2 weeks will be very telling concerning his true motives I'm thinking.

Nobody in 2008 thought Mitt was a conservative. We just thought he was better than McCain and the Huckster. Huck was really bad on some issues, and we knew McCain would stab us in the back on everything, while Mitt would stab us in the back on 70 percent. It was a crappy year, and that is part of the reason why we are so determined not to let the RINOs pick our candidate this time.

yeah..split the vote and you get Romney...and social issues are down the tube. Think folks...

If he’s a genuine conservative, Rick will leave the race and not spoil it.

Don’t be silly. This has nothing to do with evangelicals. This is all beltway.

Exactly.

Reminds me of an old truism in the Army.

“A leader can be wrong, but can never be uncertain.”

Newt may well be wrong from time to time. He is never uncertain though. Santorum is the opposite (to me at least). He is right on the social conservative stance, but always sounds apologetic.

Santorum has been bought by Romney, already. I saw that in the Thursday debate. He won’t be VP but he’s been promised a cabinet position for sure, rules or not.

I think Romney’s gotten to him first, considering what I saw in Thursday’s debate.

Part of it may be lingering antipathy between evangelicals and Newt’s adopted Roman Catholic Church, towards which even if they don’t agree theologically (and I don’t agree with them theologically either), they ought to honor its commitment to its moral policies. Unless Newt joined a looie-left diocese or sumfin.

Does Santorum take Gingrich’s adoption of his same church seriously? He should know they vetted Gingrich’s sincerity, unless this was really a looie liberal diocese.

I have been very much against former Speaker Gingrich before now, for some of the same reasons. I had hoped that Santorum would have gained this sort of momentum, and not Newt. I was wrong about his ability to win; the sheer dominance of his win in a state that I thought would be his undoing has proven that. It is time for the former Senator to step aside. South Carolina was the last chance for what I thought a better candidate to take the prize.

I feared that Newt could not win either the primary, or the general election. He has proven me wrong once. If he keeps his promises, I believe now he can prove me wrong on the general as well. In any case, he is better than Obama or Obama lite. I have to apologize to everyone on the board for not believing, and for running him down in hopes that a better would take his place. There is no chance for that. Indeed, after South Carolina, I never expected there would be.

I suppose I will sit back and eat crow for awhile.

Erick Erickson has had hit piece after hit piece against Santorum. I’ve always learned to look at both sides before reacting.

Anyway, even if it’s true, it’s not Santorum’s fault.

Why do you say that? He hammered Mitt and Newt equally in the debate and has been doing the same on the campaign trail this week. He also praised Newt in the concession speech today and always has some nice words for Newt in his interviews. I think he even said him and Newt have had family get-togethers from time to time. I could even sense that Newt felt respect for Santorum for putting up a good and feisty debate performance on Thursday and putting Newt on the ropes sometimes. I really think there’s a strong chance Santorum will be Newt’s V.P. I just had another thought that maybe Santorum could be guaranteed to be appointed to the Supreme Court. He is a lawyer after all and that would overjoy social conservatives.

With parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme, crow tastes almost like chicken.
