I too dreamed of trashing Newt in my maidenform undies but woke to the zot.

Trash Newt on this site at your own risk! I wouldn’t recommend it.

Whenever I take one of those quizzes comparing my views to that of a political figure it always comes out as more or less identical to Gingrich.

That being said, I seem to recall a fair amount of Newt "trashing" at FR at the time of the Scozzafava debacle, not to mention at the time of the global warming ad with Pelosi. And, more recently, I recall Freepers being very anti-Newt when he attacked Paul Ryan.

Those "trashings" were not only tolerated by the site they were recognized as legitimate concerns--not from RINOs but from the right--that Gingrich had perhaps lost his way.

And, while I've got problems with Romney for obvious reasons I've also got problems with some of Newt's comments about Romney's wealth that are, basically, Newt running to Romney's left on that particular issue. When did FR ever support a GOP candidate attacking people for being capitalists?

If the point is simply "stop Romney" and therefore we have to now ignore Newts own RINOish moments, so be it. But if FR intends to remain a principled conservative site, then we need to be able to be honest about the good and the bad of all of our potential nominees.

I feel badly for her-—like she needed friends and guidance.

Yeah. We had a tenous friendship. I was an “apostate” and an ‘anti’ and thus not to be trusted too much, but we had some good conversations and I really care about her.

I agree Romney needs to be vetted, which he hasn’t.
Romney is pro-abortion
Romney is pro-homosexual agenda
Romney is anti-2nd amendment
Romney’s health care was the basis of obamaCare
So far I have not seen people who support Romney say why, all they do is talk about how bad everyone else is.
Well, except someone did say he had a nice family.

Well, don’t you know Jeb Bush is an anti-mormon bigot.
restornu has been very clear in the past, if you do not support Romney it is because you are an anti-mormon bigot, doesn’t matter that Romney is a stink’n liberal.

They trashed Palin and drove her out. They trashed Perry, Bachmann, Cain and drove them all out. They trashed Gingrich and nearly drove him out, but he fought them off and recovered.

Back when "certain operatives" were going after Palin hammer and tong, trashing her at every turn, I said then I was going to notice whose campaign they ultimately wound up working for.

And it turned out all of them were Romniacs.

Back when the "tea party" rallies were being held, and back when Beck was leading his big ralley in Washington, establishment GOPers were attacking these folks in ways that mystified me at the time. They all turned out to be Romniacs when the time came. Beck was driven off of Fox, and next thing you know they are quite openly leaning Romney.

Bugs me.

Back when the war was on to stop Obama from running the table as he slammed one trillion dollar bill after another through a supine congress, a very few people stood up and tried to stop him. That would be Palin, and Bachmann, and DeMint, and the Tea Parties and a few of the talk show folks. And Gingrich. And Romney? Romney was AWOL during this time. He never came out to fight. He was busy with his focus groups and position papers. He didn't have time to try and save the republic.

On that basis alone, I decided he wasn't fit to hold office.

During the fight of the century he was AWOL.

My view is that JEB prefers Romney and, like JEB’s dad, long ago said (to Romney) that he’d probably endorse.

But even in retirement, JEB is a politician, and he sees that Romney is in a “bear market.” Why back a loser? (just because you promised, doesn’t mean you promised to endorse at a PARTICULAR TIME)

I respect Jeb Bush, but I think he’s just being a politician here. I think he sees which way the wind is blowing — and feels that he (Jeb) will have more influence between now and Nov. 2012 if he waits before using his built-up political capital.

If we're gonna go "all in" and not worry about a doily-accented, "electable" (as the MSM views it) ticket,

Who's our VP nominee under Gingrich?

(Maybe the subject of a JR separate thread)

Do you go left a bit, with a Christie type?

Or stay right with an Allen West or Marco Rubio, both of FL?

Just a few thoughts.

B.S.

Squeaker elections aren't referendums at all.

1960 was a squeaker, still too close to call today.

1964 was a referendum on Barry Goldwater, not LBJ.

1968 was another squeaker, not a referendum at all.

1976? Another squeaker...Carter by 2 points...but none of this is the point:

The point is that Ted Kennedy couldn't have beaten Gerald Ford; Phil Crane, Howard Baker or GHW Bush could not have beaten Carter; and Alan Keyes and Orrin Hatch would have lost to Al Gore.

It is your ignorance and your stupidity which are excused. LOL.

I’m just relieved that we can coalesce and that the troublemakers are purged. For some strange reason, I felt like a snitch before when reporting the attempts of sabotage.

Yes Resty, I too know that Newt has some very large trash bags following him around, but given that fact, he is still 100 times better than Romney. What you and all the elites will need to know is that pushing a liberal on us as if we have no choice has a consequence. Systematically eliminating all of our good and decent choices with slander and non stop trashing has an effect. People become desensitized. They would rather take Newt with all his baggage than Mitt’s mountain sized piles of poop.

Mitt can call himself anything he wants but he will never be a conservative because he has never been one. He is a liberal socialist at best. He is Obama the white version. Even before getting into office he has done more liberal things in his lifetime than Obama. He’s instituted gay marriage in Massachusetts. He’s instituted Romneycare and fifty dollar abortions. I don’t know anyone of either party running who can claim all of that. He supports many of the things Obama supports and for all we know he is giving lip service to us concerning everything else. Romney can never be trusted.

One thing I would say is that Newt can have a demolition cabinet.

Sarah can oversee the stripping of the DOE

Perry could dismantle the EPA.

Etc., etc.

What a weird statement. No one within a million miles of questionable NBC status has been mentioned in the post.
