Day eight comes to a close. The prosecution will decide tomorrow how many more witnesss to call but the expectation is they may wrap it up by the end of the week or Monday at latest. Then it's the defense.

As I said on a previous thread “That Marine needs a promotion, a fist full of medals and a gratitude a nation can never repay.’

Another fine report by Nat!
SgtMajor Sax flattened the prosecution!

Sounds like a good day for Frank.

Another very good piece by Nat and straight forward testimony by Sergeant Major Sax that the prosecution didn’t want to hear.

Yes, an excellent day! And we haven’t even gotten to the defense yet. This could be over next week.

It should be getting more and more obvious to any reasonable person that this should never have gone to trial—and wasted six years of SSgt Wuterich’s life.

The prosecution better have an “October surprise” because right now, they and their witnesses are making the defenses case.

Maybe they’ll call Tim McGirk (only kidding).
Aside from more Kilo Co guys, not sure who else they’re going to call. And Kilo Co guys will just be more of the same.
Maj Dinsmore may be tomorrow—and he may be the best defense witness for the prosecution yet.

Thanks for the pings.
>>Later in his testimony, Sax got down to cases when talking about what happened on November 19, 2005 when one Kilo, 3/1 Marine was killed and two more seriously wounded by a remotely detonated roadside bomb that signaled the attack on a stunned squad of riflemen trying to take cover on a hard surfaced road that didnt offer any.
I appreciate Helms constant reminders about the events that triggered the response. Interesting perspective by Sergeant Major Sax

I share that thought. I guess pride and self-deception run enough interference to perpetuate their charade.

“...I guess pride and self-deception run enough interference to perpetuate their charade.”
The very idea of a bunch of lawyers second guessing our U.S Marines and their conduct - when hostilities are clearly present, is a disgusting notion!
Moreover, it demonstrates the restraint of our military professionals who stand down, despite their seething rage against the enemy within...

It sounds to me like some NCIS agents ought to be prosecuted.

My guess is that the prosecution strategy all along has been to convict Wuterich on one of the lesser charges so the media and the system could proclaim, "See, he was guilty." The lead headline out of the NC paper will be: "Haditha Marine Convicted Of ___________"
My understand is that there were orignally nine counts of voluntary manslaughter together with charges of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, dereliction of duty and obstruction of justice. I understand the obstruction of justice was dropped.
The reckless endangerment or dereliction of duty would be what I'd guess the prosecution is hoping to pull off...one or the other. The most slippery would be the "dereliction of duty".
