Wow, I’m not a big fan of Romney, but does everything he does have to be spun negatively? He did a good deed and he’s still slammed for it.

He did it to get media coverage. He was doing HIMSELF a "good" deed.

He could have given her assistance privately; it isn't like she just showed up out of the blue.

OH MY GOD! What a false panderer! Is there no level so low as Romney would stoop to pick up a couple of votes?

I bet he had at least $1,000 in his back pocket and gave this “poor potential voter” only a pittance.

I bet he felt good and had a really good nights sleep over this while having a warm, fuzzy feeling.

What a fake and false person he is.

You are naive if you think Romney does something for anyone without expecting some type of return. In this case, it was political haymaking.

Romney only thinks of Romney and no one else.

Would you all be saying the same thing if Sarah Palin had done this?

He did a good deed....

This was NOT a good deed. It was a panhandler brushoff. A good deed would have been an aide looking into her bills and working with her to design an income strategy. THAT would have been a good deed.

Handing her 50 bucks was a particularly ignorant, brazen and outrageously elitist dismissal of the woman's problems.

YES!

Sarah Palin would not hand out cash like it was pennies thrown to beggars. She would talk with the woman, get to know about her circumstances and look into help that would make a difference. You betcha.

Everyone is speculating how cold and calculating the actions in the story are.

Maybe it WAS a spur of the moment thing. If he was so calculating, he would realize that he will be plagued with requests for money.

I’m not real enamored with Mitt.

But it is sure looking like he will be the nominee. I know he isn’t yet and doesn’t HAVE to be.

So.

Based on the virulence of some of these comments, what are y’all gonna do? Refuse to vote for him?

Assure Zero finishes his rape and destruction of us/US? I’m getting a little sore, myself.

I’m not presuming that this politically tin-eared, conservatively challenged (as in NOT) candidate will get the nomination and I am doing all that I can to show why he’s a loser — before Obama shows us what we know in our hearts, Romney won’t win.

I agree. Not to toot my own horn but there have been a few (way too few) moments in my life when I have spontaneously given something away whether money or a coat or an umbrella. Whether this was staged or not is between him and his HP and maybe his handlers. We’ll never know. I prefer to think the best of people based upon their observable behavior in the present day.

Reminds me of something my dad would do. I don’t see what the big deal its not like he paid her a huge amount of money but he did do the right thing in helping her out. He did not do it live on camera.

Ping and double ping. Right out of the Marxist neighborhood organizer playbook.

They call it “walkin’ around money”.

Romney has become a sickening caricature of himslef.

The Romney Economy

It is arresting to imagine a Romney White House, inevitably filled with as many former Bain colleagues as each of his other public ventures have been: The PowerPoints, the 80-20 jargon, the clinical separation of decision-making from ideology, the detachment of those decisions from moral consequence, a persistent blind spot for people as people. It would represent the final ascension of a perfectly American type, one that has already remade the culture of business. I once asked a Bain colleague of Romney’s how Romney thought of his own core competence. “I think Mitt thinks he’s good at being Mitt Romney,” the colleague said.

Palinistas are so predictable. They can always tell you exactly what Palin would do in a situation. Except that they did miss that thing about her ‘definitely’ running for president.
(She’s running!!) What a joke.

...He did not do it live on camera.

But an ABC reporter "just happened" to witness it.
