Where I live, there are houses within 5 miles of me which are OFF THE GRID. No power. No computer. No Internet.

Obama adiminstration is trying to resurrect the NAIS animal ID system. Such system got hammered down a couple of years back.

They are now proposing that cattle no longer get branded. They want electronic ear tags, which must be read by a battery powered reader. When a rider is working, sorting pens at a roundup or at a sale yard, such rider must then ride his horse, keep moving the cow where he wants it to go & carry & use the ‘reader’ all at the same time, in order to properly ID the cow.

Branding has worked for over 150 years. A rider can see the brand from a reasonable distance. Often, ranches comingle their animals for grazing & at fall roundup, such animals are sorted & taken back to the correct owners ranches. Using such an electronic reader is just plain stupid. Numbered ear tags are currently in use, along with ranch brands. Even those ear tags are sometimes torn out of the cow’s ear. Losing the ONLY method of ID- an electronic tag would be a disaster.

The same NAIS rules are drawn to require EVERY ANIMAL to be ID chipped. I mean even chickens!!!

I have horses. IF I wish to take my horse(s) off my property, I will have to file a report with the Federal Government, telling them WHERE I am going, WHEN I am going, the EXACT route I am taking, WHEN I am expecting to return, along with my REASON for going in the first place. I must file this report within 24 hours of such movement or face a fine of $5000 for EACH & EVERY animal I am moving. I must then file a similar report upon my return. IF for any reason I changed my ROUTE, my time of absence, or whatever, I must explain the details. Such return report also carries a fine of $5000 for each animal if I don’t file it to their satisfaction.

IF I have to take one of my horses to a vet clinic, that will constitute an emergency for me & I won’t be thinking about filing any darn reports.

Let’s say that due to some sort of disaster- a tornado- flooding-—fire-—whatever——I have to move my animals. I will NOT necessarily know WHERE I am going. what ROUTE I am taking, WHEN I will return, etc. etc.

When fires threatened & destroyed homes & ranches near San Diego a few years back, many owners could not even get access to take their animals out. Many horse owner volunteers came out with trailers to move whatever animals could be rescued & take them to shelters & private homes, etc. The fire department would not let trucks/trailers into the worst fire areas. One man, a hard core distance runner & rider, RAN down 3 miles into a cluster of ranches in a canyon & brought out 4 horses at a time, leading them at a hand trot. He made numerous trips & as each group of horses was brought out to safety, they were loaded into trailers at the ready & taken out of danger....

Who is going to stand still for getting fined by Obama & his minions & his CZARS for not sending in proper reports in such a situation????

What impact will this have on 4-H kids or FFA members???

How about the impact on ranchers when they take their cattle & other animals to sale yards? They don’t know IF they will be sold. They don’t know WHERE they will be going from there....and on and on....

When the fires hit the west end of the San Fernando Valley in the fall on 1971, the fire raced from Simi Valley thru the Malibu hills to the Pacific Ocean. Many horse owners could not get their horses out by trailer. They literally turned their horses loose to fend for themselves. Some had ID braided into the forelock. Some had halters with ID. Most had no halters. Too dangerous. Horses started to aggregate on the sands of the beaches, having run south from the flames & danger. Grooms & handlers brought huge semi horse trailers up from Hollywood Park & rounded up every horse they could find. Last I hard, only one horse died in the fires. Some had wounds & such, but they were all treated by the staff at Hollywood Park. They were fed & kept in the huge infield of Hollywood Park until the owners could get them claimed. WHO is going to get fined by Obama for all of this kind of mess???The owners?? The rescuers??? Give me a break.

God forbid such fire dangers occur soon again—but they will sometime.

Another ongoing problem where there are ranches are the people who wish to ATV or whatever on such land. They don’t want to actually go ASK the ranch owner!! They don’t want to backtrack when facing a fence! They simply CUT the fences. Then the next thing, there are cattle out. The rancher may not know for days if he has cattle out. Say the neighbor calls 4 days later & tells Joe The Rancher that some of his yearlings are down by their herd. Joe the rancher has to find the open fence, get the yearlings back into their own place & repair the fence.

What report does Joe the rancher file? He didn’t know the cattle had been ‘moved’ because of the fence cutting by strangers. He didn’t know WHERE they were. He doesn’t even know how many days his yearlings were out!!!! He stands to be fined $5000 for each yearling for not filing the ‘out of the fence’ report & then he also faces a fine for every day he didn’t file the report!!! He cannot even file the ‘back inside the fence’ report correctly becuse he cannot say WHERE those yearlings were during their excape. This is INSANITY!!!!

I don’t think animal ownership should include the punishment for not recording your every move!!!

This is a violation of the 4th Amendment, illegal search, as far as I am concerned.

We beat this back once, but it has come back. This government wants to control every move we make- even with our animals.

So if I don’t have an Internet ID, does that mean I can’t use the internet?

Yes, and it means you cannot buy and sell. Think about it, more and more financial (banking, bill paying, bill sending) transactions take place online. They are encouraging it. We have direct deposits from Social Security, our pensions, our paychecks, etc. WHAT if you weren't able to access your funds, because you had no Obama ID? IMO they want the internet to be the only way we conduct business. They would know and control--everything.

Exactly. These people say it’s too onerous — and therefore disenfranchising! — to require people to get a picture ID to vote, but now they expect me to go through God-knows-what process to obtain a permit so that I can check my email. These people are real dicks.
