Jim DeMint: Romney will win South Carolina
The Washington Examiner's Beltway Confidential ^ | January 10, 2012 | Charlie Spiering

Posted on 01/10/2012 11:07:04 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

On Mark Levin's radio show this evening, conservative Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina predicted that Republican frontrunner Romney would win the state in the upcoming Presidential primary.

"I think Romney's going to win here," said DeMint, "I think that some of the other that might have had an advantage here have really crossed ways with some Republicans as they've criticized free enterprise concepts." DeMint said, clearly referencing Jon Huntsman, Rick Perry and Newt Gingrich's recent attacks on Romney's record at Bain capital.

Demint added that he liked Romney's acceptance speech tonight, noting that, "He’s hitting a lot of the hot buttons for me about balancing the budget, and frankly I’m a little concerned about the few Republicans who have criticized some of what I consider free market principles here,” DeMint said.

DeMint said he was not going to endorse a candidate yet, because he wanted to focus on the Senate.

"I want to help deliver a conservative Senate, otherwise it doesn’t matter who is in the White House.” he said.

A lot of people endorsed Romney last time because it was either him, or McCain.

I would have voted for Romney, too, had I had a chance to make a difference in my primary. It was way over by then, so I chose the Operation Chaos route. ;o)

This time is different, and I’m sorry that the Republicans have decided to go the way of the Whigs.

“...it’ll clearly be a sign that the tea party has lost.”

No, it’s not.

The TEA Party chose to give Republicans a chance to caucus with them.

2010 was a great example of the TEA Party’s influence.

They have chosen to ignore us this go around.

To their peril...

Bears repeating, and kudos to you for an outstanding post! Thank you!

“I used to like many politicians. Not anymore. They are ALL part of the evil political class. Trust none of them, like none of them.

They all exist to increase the power of the State.

No leader today can even begin to approach the greatness of our Founders. They were truly Revolutionaries — geniuses who loved above all, Liberty. They handed down a blueprint that allowed Capitalism to flourish and the individual to live life like few humans before.

Over time, Statists in both parties have morphed our Republic into a Socialist hell.

The more I contemplate, the more it seems that our only way out is for new Revolutionaries to rise at the state level and push their states to dissolve this Socialist USA and reconstitute the Republic of the United States. The dissolution must involved the complete elimination of ALL Federal departments not authorized by the Constitution. All programs must be ended in a rapid fashion.

The transition back to true Liberty can only happen in a sudden manner — we cannot legislate or “transition” back to Liberty.

Jim DeMint is a member of the government class that is crushing our future. He has no interest in truly restoring our Republic — he is just another member of the contemptible political class.”

“What say you, Demint lovers?”

A julep just won’t be the same without Demint. Guess I’ll take my bourbon neat.

Do you know what is stupid?

At this point in time, a ham sandwich could beat Obama.

Yet, the Republicans, of which I am not one...anymore...are doing what they do best.

Yanking defeat from the jaws of victory, and turning our country over to some of the sleaziest, most power hungry Marxist/communists known to man.

But, hey...as long as they get their committee chairmanships, all is good.

Good post by you, and I’m happy to see you. ;o)

on the one hand, it was Romney or McCain.

No it wasn't, DeMint got behind Romney in 2006 when Romney was still governor and helped push him to run by serving on his exploratory committee. DeMint was there at the beginning and through to the end, he wanted Mitt Romney

DeMint was his national party co-chairman during his presidential run.

To be honest with you, when all was said and done, I despised what Romney did to McCain, but hated even more what McCain and Huckabee did to Romney.

I’m sorry that DeMint chose so unwisely.

There are no innocents here...just those who had to choose between the evils.

I chose Operation Chaos, and voted for Hillary! in the primary.

BTW, did I mention that I am no longer a Republican?

McCain and Huckabee never did anything to Romney (I know, every Romney person claims they did, they “ganged up”).

Romney was and is a monster but I don’t recall what he did to McCain.

By the way because of the internet and typing, (keyboards, whatever) I think we should ban names that keep going back and forth from capital letters to small case, to capitals.
McCain? DeMint? come on, I got blisters on my fingers!

obama will probably beat romney anyways imo so let’s drag this thing out for as long as possible and force the gay old party to spend more money than they would otherwise just so they can lose in the end and get nothing in return for their investment in romney the rino. maybe they’ll learn not to cross us yet. As long as we dominate the senate races I could care less who wins in a romney versus obama contest. I love divided government.

Weird isn’t it, I’ve never figured out what to make of it, but it troubles me, it contributes to that feeling of being helplessly outnumbered.

As I grow, I learn to respect Jim Robinson and his work, more and more.
