We used to have loads of light manufacturing plants in our major cities. My family was in sheet metal, we fabricated. Blacks, whites, Hispanics all worked there. Most lighting fixtures were made in America. The Chinese bought fixtures here, took them home and stamped out copies. That killed the American makers about 20 years ago thus killing that light industry.

You could say there are four basics instead of three: Agriculture, Mining, Manufacturing, and Construction.

Except that Construction might be a subset of Manufacturing.
