When ask a multiple choice question “Which best defines Conseervatism to you?” 59% of the “conservatives” who found Romney acceptable picked:
any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods

Mitt Romney is the only 2012 candidate whom a majority of Republicans including conservatives consider an acceptable GOP nominee for presidentDefine: acceptable.

59 percent of conservatives said the former Massachusetts governor was an acceptable Republican presidential candidate... . Just 46 percent said the same for Newt Gingrich and 45 percent for Rick Santorum
I'll bet they forgot to call Todd Palin.

IMHO it’s still all about physical appearance. I think Romney polls well because people are not paying close enough attention yet. People know nothing about his record or his policies. The pollsters may be refering to him as a conservative when they call, and people who do not know any better think he looks the “most presidential” so they agree he is their choice.
Looks should not matter, but realistically, they do.

Those who “embrace” RINO Romney are not conservatives.

Show me a “conservative” that embraces Romney and I’ll show you a socialist.

These numbers are about to change RADICALLY with the influx of Sheldon Adelson’s $$$. Can’t wait for the fireworks.

59%!??!!
You Lie!
Romney can’t get more than 25% of anything but you found a 59% collective desire for him?
Frickin clowns.

Romney's major virtue has been “he can win”. It may be that his major Achilles' heel is Bain. If the PAC operating on the behalf of Newt exploits that angle successfully, it may be the undoing of “he can win”. It won't be the class warfare argument that drives Republican primary voters off Romney, but that voters will realize that when Obama follows the same path he WILL drive off the moderates and independents, and thus Romney will no longer be the one that can win. Look for the media to hit Santorum big now because Romney's major weakness is coming into the light now.

If the poll is true, it is not Romney’s “fault.” It is the fault of Conservatives who did not get our message out effectively enough.
To blame Romney is to curse the wind.

Well I’m so glad Politico cleared that up. I had not realized that I had embraced Romney. I still thought I wanted to vote for Newt.
