I think Newt is extremely capable in talking the two Rick's into joining his team to defeat Romney.
Let's have a Newt/Santorum ticket and put Perry in a cabinet position.
Come on guys, join forces and win!
As a Born Again believer myself, I find it insulting that these "leaders" intend to tell me how to vote, who should get out of the campaign and generally what they decide we should do. IMO this is America; each candidate should decide for him/herself when to get out of the race, not the media and certainly not so-called religious leaders.
I am for any of the three, but why the Perry’s have to bash Santorum is not known. Bashing Romney should have been stronger.
Amen!!!!!
We must be about the STOP MITT EXPRESS.
“Social concerns are not as important to voters as they are here on FR.”
Agreed. The fact is that people want to be left alone. Even if Santorum had the right message (I’d say it’s maybe 50/50), his anger in every sentence defies him and that message. I spoke with a friend the other day who lives in, I believe TN, (I’m not sure, but it’s that area), and I mentioned that I was watching the debate. My friend said, “I hope you don’t like Santorum. Every time I listen to him speak, I get the impression that he’s disturbed, and has some deep-seated personal issues. Maybe he does, or maybe he doesn’t, but in my life, anyone who is that angry, that much of the time, has personal issues. I have to go with my personal experience on that one.” (That’s almost verbatim.)
I never cared for Santorum after his comments that amounted to “The Tenth Amendment doesn’t exist unless I say it does,” in the initial debates. However, he did put on a good face for Iowa. However, that arrogant anger came right back in the last debate. I literally had to turn it off because I couldn’t stand to listen to him anymore. It was that bad.

In normal times, i agree with you, but this time people are having a hard time deciding on who to get behind. We as a conservative group don’t seem to have the ability to make the decision. We are killing ourselves having all three in the race. I mean when Romney could win South Carolina that is tragic. If we don’t get behind a candidate in the next week, we will end up with Romney. Yes I sound like I am nervous because I sorta am. We are going to screw this up IMHO.
I’m not buying this. Romney has never polled above 25% except in NH.
OK, enjoy.
It is pretty evident that voters can't let go of their candidate and get behind one not-Romney candidate. By time the not-Romney candidates are reduced by the primary process, it may be too late for ANY not-Romney candidate.
Good Gawd, are we all really THIS stupid? DO the math!!
24 + 16 = 40!!!
ONE has got to bow out. MUST, MUST, MUST, or we’re gonna lose.
But if they do — we WIN — with a conservative ...and we take out Obama.
What is wrong with the GOP???
At this point, we are fighting lemmings, the media, and the RINOS ...but we CAN win it - but ONE must bow out.
NOW.
If they don’t . ..well, it’s too bad that EGOS had to rule the day.
I’m getting so digusted with it all I can barely watch it ANYmORE!!
GO NEWT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Romney 36
Gingrich/Santorum anti-Romney 40
total anti-Romney 64
If more than half are squishy, this has no value as a poll, only a way of framing a particular writer's opinion, and getting some agreement from 46% of a small set of some people that claimed that they were republican, were registered, and were going to vote.
Otherwise we might as well accept that the used car salesman will be the candidate.
This isn’t your average election. It isn’t just about “not as bad as”. This is about fundamentally transforming and irreparable damage.
Hang in there. Plenty of time remains yet for Gingrich to slip further and Santorum to pass both he and Romney.
I will NOT hold my nose and vote for Romney. I will NOT again be forced to do the Republican establishment tango whereby they (Rove, Coulter, NRO, the Country Club set, etc.) tell me that if Romney get nominated there will be no where else Conservatives can go. Baloney. I will NOT vote for Romney. Obama can win for all I care. I will work for a Conservative Senate and House.
Let Karl Rove and Chris Christie and Ann Coulter raise money for Romney because I won't be sending any. Nor will I be sending any to the RNC. Let the Establishment fund their hand-picked guy.
I understand what you’re saying, but I disagree:
“This is about fundamentally transforming and irreparable damage.”
Actually, I think that was mor elikely the last election. This one’s going to be about “Who to blame.”
My fellow evangelicals need to realize that if Santorum is already falling behind Newt, which he is in virtually every poll I’ve seen, then the naysayers among us were right and his “victory” in Iowa was simply a flash in the pan.
We don’t have the luxury of seeing how things will play out. Unless we unify around Newt now, it will be too late to make a difference by the time South Carolina and Florida are up.
As much as it pains me to support a serial adulterer, I can at least say with confidence that Newt won’t make the mistake of doing it again. He knows as well as any of us that the liberals would crucify after how he went after Bill Clinton.
Good testimonial but that wasn’t what I asked.
