absolutely correct.
Lewis and Clark carried .45 or .50 caliber air guns that used a foot pump to charge with air. these were capible of taking out deer or people.....
there are companies that have similar ones today for medium to big game hunting....
actually 15 in 8th grade today can mean a fall birthday held back from 1st grade by the mom
when I was in school in the 60s, kindergarten was not mandatory and neither was school breakfast etc
and you could start 1st grade if you turned 6 by the end of that year...so many like me started at 5 in the fall ...another thing btw...we started day after labor day...not mid august
now you have to be 6 by mid summer to start first or rather since kindergarten is now mandatory you have to be 5 by mid summer to start it and get the school thing rolling
so now you have plenty of fall birthday kids turning 18 fall of senior year
couple that with the predominate trend of moms holding back their little darlings for one year in the beginning for fear they will be too intimidated by school after being on her skirt tail for 6 years
or dad holding johnny back so he will be bigger for sports
hence many seniors...particularly boys...who now turn 19 in fall of the senior year...I hate it...now you have near men in steady social romantic contact with 14-15-16 year old girls so easy....it’s a recipe for problems
crazy...I know...I hate it
this now dead kid may have actually failed ...which I doubt...they almost never fail anymore or he had a detention holdback...more likely than scholastic
my point is though that a 15 year old 8th grader is far more common that a generation or two before
I was 17 when I graduated...like many here I bet
This boy would have been 19...had he graduated or lived.
everything except the ability to play basketball crosses ethnic boundaries
there is nothing relative whatsoever as to how white kids commit gun crimes as much as black or latino.
the rate for black and latino kids is probably so much higher proportionately that it is difficult to ascertain and Holder's DOJ...the folks who are supposed to record such things ...dare not even try would be my guess because they simply do not face truths they don't like
like some freepers come to think of it
i have a lot of boys and a lot of bb and pellet arms...as well as the real stuff
the Red Ryder stuff is weaker than in my day..bounces off sparrows...think Lassie or My Three Sons era for me...all boys had guns then...now moms keep them lassoed up with video games pretending instead of doing...like their daddies come to think of it..lol
the BB pistol...which is metal btw...will sting you good
the Benjamen and Crossman pellet shooting arms in either .177 or .22 will hurt but they have been tuned down to less pressure given per pump...we used to be able to pump up to squirrel lethal in about 7 pumps...now it's much harder
I have a Crossman .177 1955 commemorative pellet pistol that is much stronger with the CO2 than the later ones
I have seen someone shot with a .22 Benjamen...not likely lethal but can put your eye out or lodge near the spine..as in the case I saw
They do make larger barrel rifles now in air that will shoot I think 1500 fps or so in .22....not sure I would call that a medium or large game rifle but good for some varmints at reasonable range with a distress call I guess
I am not aware of larger air guns though they may be out there...the higher velocity ones are not cheap
my white father was a highschool basketball star and college scholarship player
