Hence, what the DOJ is doing is patently illegal and should be ignored.

Unfortunately it's not illegal. In the voting rights act congress gave the DOJ the right to approve any any changes to voting laws in specific southern states that had a history of discrimination. Now SC will have to go to the courts to get the DOJ's decision reversed, Gov. Haley has issued a statement that she intends to.

Does Barry bend over for Reggie? Is Michelle’s butt bigger than Jupiter? Do Barry, Michelle, and Eric Holder hate whitey? Is the NAACP racist? Does Barry have a lifetime membership at Man’s Country? Is Barry on the down-low? Are all of Barry’s relatives illegal aliens? Do boob-belts run from Michelle?

Just asking too.

Can somebody explain to me how the Justice Department on its own can block any State law?

I would add to okie's good reply that the Fourteenth Amendment provides only one remedy to complaints of voter suppression, and that remedy is applied by the House of Representatives if needed. That is proportionate reduction of the delegation of representatives from a State so accused, to the House.

How and why this use of a "remedy" against a State, as well as the application of violent coercion to a State by factional owners of the federal government, is all part of the debris left behind by Abraham Lincoln and the Northern business interests' war to subjugate the South.

Thanks to you and to Lentulus Grachus (Salve Te!) for the answer. The State of S. Carolina should still ignore the order and let the DOJ take them to court. Civil disobedience (disobeying an unjust law) in its highest form.

‘Can somebody explain to me how the Justice Department on its own can block any State law?’

What’s the problem? All the Justice Department has to do is conjure up a “Civil Right”. When black dudes with billy clubs were scaring white folks away from a polling place in Philadelphia, the victims of this intimidation issued a complaint. It got all the way to Holder, who decided that the right to vote was a “civil right”. Since “Civil Rights” are intended to protect black people, the White victims were out of luck and the case was dropped.

Note that in the posted article, Holder specifically refers to the “Voting Rights Act” of 1965, which outlawed discriminatory voting practices that had been responsible for the widespread disenfranchisement of African Americans. From Wikipedia, the act “established extensive federal oversight of elections administration, providing that states with a history of discriminatory voting practices” and “could not implement any change affecting voting without first obtaining the approval of the Department of Justice.”

You know what if minorites can’t get off their lazy butts and apply for ID - say a birth certificate and then submit that to their local electoral office then they really don’t deserve the opportunity to vote.

In Australia you can’t vote if your not on the elctoral roll and you can’t get on the electoral role unless you provide specific proof of indentity and place of residence and, if an immigrant, your paperwork in regards to your status. If you change adresses you are required to inform the electoral people within three months.

There are other requirements of the electoral act that make it compulsory to vote once you are on the role which would not please many in the USA I am sure and also penalties for not voting.

But I think overall at least we know who it is that is actually voting and that illegal immigrants would not bother trying.

I don't think anybody can get free prescriptions without ID.
This is nothing but a straw-man argument put up by the RATs every election.

What's really sad here is that people fall for it. It baffles me how
American citizens buy into this crap.

Mr. Holder argues that voter ID laws disproportionately discriminate against poor blacks and Hispanics - citizens who cannot afford to acquire a driver’s license, passport or other form of photo identification.

Of course they will try to steal this election. You could see that they are already well underway if you understand how they work. They continue to rot the republic from within like termites and borers and other vermin.

Democrats accuse others of what they are actually already doing themselves....no one seems to get that though!

Holder (if he were not already a blind racist) would see that the absence of voter ID laws discriminates IN FAVOR OF poor blacks and Hispanics ( and others whose names will be used to cast fraudulent ballots again in this election).

...”Can somebody explain to me how the Justice Department on its own can block any State law? I expect stupidity from journalists but this is at a level that surprises even me”...

In a nation which has seen it’s Constitution stepped on and set aside to the point that we are no longer free, what can we expect? It seems that our leaders just throw out the most ridiculous thing they can just to see if they can make it stick with the American people, laws be damned! What nation can think that elections are even important if no identification of it’s citizens is possible at the voting booth? Without that, our system disintegrates into a giant criminal enterprise and I think we may be about there, if the last election and ACORN are any evidence. Just remember, evil triumphs when good men/women do nothing.
