RIP, Fourth Amendment.
In all the time I've been in Europe, I've been asked to present ID exactly twice; once in Prague, once in Berlin. Both times, I flashed my American passport, the cops saw my visa(s) and I was on my merry way in less than 30 seconds. Never been groped, probed, irradiated, or patted down. Ever.
Isn’t the TSA also going to the Highways in Tennessee?
Obama is putting his Brown Shirts in place.
I think that’s likely the next phase.....increased VIPR deployment to large public gathering places, malls, sporting events, political rallies, etc.
That rings a bell, actually. I think they deployed random checkpoints in Tennessee if I remember. I don’t remember the specific reason, but I think it was a pilot project.
Maybe we’ll have TSA VIPR teams monitoring polling places in November 2012......after all, that’s a large public gathering isn’t it?
I’m not sure whether to add a “sarcasm” or “prophecy” suffix......
I’d like to know where they get their authority to expand their presence all over. It appears that they can go wherever they choose to and do whatever they want?
Offhand I’d say they’re deriving their authority from the Patriot Act.
A total police state just makes me feel so much safer!/s
People who utilize rail for commuting to work have got to love this. “Hey, boss, I’m gonna be late for work; TSA is gumming up the works and people are missing their trains.”
Check out the very recent FBI redefinition of rape. It’s online if you do a Google search. It is scheduled to be operative early in 2012. I don’t know if it will put a damper on TSAs most egregious groping.
What would you want to bet that disinformation cells, both Moose and non-Moose, are putting out all manner of invented “traffic” about “possible attacks” in all manner of public places? Thereby keeping these Vipers in a whirl and creating all manner of nuisance to the average traveler?
I doubt the FBI re-definition of rape will change much. After all, it’s for the sake of national security. /s
I wonder how much longer it’ll be before some kind of domestic passport system is set up.
It’s what they had in the old USSR. I figure by 2014 or so, that’ll be the next phase of the system.
Zippy/Holder stuck on stupid bump.
TSA needs to be abolished. Quickly. These are unaccountable glorified baggage handlers that love their power.
This is how free travel in a country is destroyed. You will not be able to use any government transportation (that you’re paying taxes for plus fees) or private transportation systems unless you go under the govt anal probe and all you CCW folks, well you’re terrorists now.
Wait till they start doing random security roadblocks. That’ll probably get phased in sometime in 2013.
You’re driving on your way to work, and presto! There’s a random security roadblock just up ahead. They’ll check you driver’s license against the database, sweep a mirror under your car, maybe a bomb-sniffing dog, and (presumably) send you on your way.
You’ll get used to it, citizen. Have no fear; remain calm. The security you’ve demanded is now mandatory.
