OK, let’s cool it FRiends, and Happy New Year to all. Getting signatures is no fun, I am doing it now. And getting properly trained volunteers is even harder. As someone elsewhere pointed out, Ron Paul, running as a Liberterian has learned this the hard way, and, of course, Mitt has the help of the Republican establishment in VA. Less than 12,000 when 10,000 is needed is risking failure.

Newt may have a lot of conservative creds . . . . . when you overlook everything else. However, at the end of the day, there isn’t a single person running on the GOP side that anyone can say for sure what we will get if they are elected. NOT one!! Had Sarah run, we would have a sure thing. With the current crop, we have a crap shoot.

And those aren’t very good odds for conservatives.

Whomever the candidate is, I will support them. But, if the candidate comes out of the current crop, I won’t be very happy about it!

I don`t think I`m voting for either one.
No more “Lesser of two evils.”.

First, the fact that polls are not used to report reality, but to create it, is self evident.

Nonsense. A Reuters/Ipsos and a Fox News Poll both reached the same conclusions, which is that Newt can't beat Obama. In fact, both polls noted that Romney couldn't beat Obama either. How is THAT creating the reality that we need to nominate Romney to win?

Secondly, I've already made this point, but I'll make it again - The odds for one of the second tier hopefuls to have a phoenix like resurrection at this point is ZERO. Even if one of them performs well in Iowa, that success will not translate down state.

Your opinion has been noted.

You got one candidate left standing that can stop Romney.

But can he beat Obama? The polls say "no".

You make your choice...

According to the polls of which you said in post 56 "Polls historically get fairly accurate this close to voting.", our choice is to support Newt and have him lose to Obama, or support someone else and have Romney lose to Obama. I don't accept your conclusions that it's either Newt or Romney, and until I do I'll base my support on principle.
