Cool site.
When I was little, I found a bag on a high shelf in the basement with some little toy soldiers. My uncle brought them home from WWII. They were Germans and made of something like paper mache on a wire frame. They came apart easily with play and got thrown out. Wish I had known better. I’d love to have them back to see what they were like.
Probably my all time favorite Eastwood movie.
Actually, we had that set and did many of the experiments. Serious stuff, but—compared to what I remember doing in my folks’ basement years ago—very, very tame.
I grew up on the chemistry set and also developed b&w film in the basement. Still have some of the photos. The chemistry set was great for making fireworks. I wonder how many of those chemicals are not available today.
I had a lead casting (Kasting?) set as a child. It was a lot of fun. I tried to find one on ebay recently. Only saw used ones. I guess this is a banned toy these days.
Nowadays they go to Tractor Supply or Rural King and ask for a pound or two of kno3 granular weed killer. Or ten pounds, or twenty-five....
Don't have a farm supply store in your town? Lowes and Wal-Mart has Spectracide granules in one-pound bottles, and you can even get it online from Amazon.
