Freerepublic is great for old articles on line. I was just reading about the EDL and noticed how many people here still get their information from the MSM.

It is sad

That’s what they’re telling you now? Well then, carry on.

Your post noted and thank you.

I noted my own post #22 and still have the same beliefs regarding the cowardly low lifes that attacked Robinson.

It has been a hot one today in Great Lakes country and I will carefully scan the link you have provided tomorrow. No knee jerk reaction here to what kind of person Robinson might or might not be. That does not excuse thugs.

Stephen Yaxley-Lennon is a violent criminal, wife batterer and football hooligan.

In spite of your sneering, I’ve lived in Britain and I’ve lived in the US, and I doubt very much whether Americans have any more practical freedom than Brits do.

“I doubt very much whether Americans have any more practical freedom than Brits do.”

We can defend ourselves from intruders into our homes without being prosecuted for harming the bad guy.

We can own firearms and even carry them on our person.

did you watch that video in post 39?
It is amazing what the British government is doing to this man and the EDL. It doesn’t matter if you agree with his beliefs or not.

If you don’t even watch the video why do you even make statements like that? really?

Nothing in the video can change the facts.

I note your post #46.

America, as you know has the First Amendment to the Constitution. Although under siege and watered down by some of the "Black Robes" aided and abetted by much of the MSM, it still stands like a rock.

Things are so bad in my native country- England, that people are petrified they might be overheard. The thought police exist, just as George Orwell feared. In his way, Orwell knew what was coming. Some of 1984 has. The only thing that makes me sometimes regret having chose Canada, is it's lack of a First Amendment. Nothing like as bad as in England. We have Ezra Levant and others hammering away at political correctness. That he still does, and they cannot get him shut down, does indicate some free speech in Canada.

By way of passing information, persons who lamented the real lack of freedom of speech in England many years ago, were told "Well, you should got to Hyde Park - there is your freedom". I went there in London and all kinds of speakers mounted their portable "soap box". They could say anything they wished. The real truth though, was that only about a few dozen were listening.

Unashamedly I state that America is the last bastion of freedom in the English speaking world.

You need to recognize that a considerable percentage of our active posters are shills sent here to deflect the facts.

No observation = no facts

It is sad. I used to go out of my way to read posts periodically by specific person who was banned for being overly sarcastic. Yes, he was obnoxious sometimes but he wasn't a troll like these people you are pointing out.

I just don't understand freerepublic anymore.
It is sad.

Indeed. That’s why when I say that “Stephen Yaxley-Lennon is a violent criminal, wife batterer and football hooligan”, it’s because they are honest observations of recorded facts. Are you really arguing that he’s not been convicted of those crimes or are you just so smitten with the guy that you can’t see the wood for the trees?

My brother, freedom is something we should all strive for and not mock. I’m sorry for my flippant response, we’re all in this together.

I can defend myself from an intruder in my own home - this meme that we get prosecuted for hurting burglars is just an american conservative wet dream based on insufficient knowledge of one incident.

I can also have Christmas trees and prayer meetings in public places without being sued by someone bleating about "separation of Church and State". I am free to walk the streets of even the largest cities at night and not get mugged. I don't have to carry an ID card, and when I vote there isn't some "person of color" with a hood and a bad attitude outside the station tapping a club. The laws of my country are determined by my elected representatives. I dont like the decisions they make sometimes, but I do know they are not going to be overturned by an elitist group in black robes. I am under the rule of law, not the rule of lawyers. I dont get spot fined for traffic offences, or anything else for that matter. I am perfectly able to own a gun, and I can carry it in public as long as it is concealed. Most Brits choose not to, but that is their choice, not something that is foisted upon them. You might think that's soft or stupid or misguided, but it is their choice.

“I am perfectly able to own a gun, and I can carry it in public as long as it is concealed.”

Do you seriously think we’re dumb enough to buy that garbage, as though none of us have ever lived there? Brits can’t so much as dream of a pistol without going to prison.

I know you are not British in any way making that statement.
