People who resist Gingrich might want to consider how far he has come without money and organization.
It is time to get serious and help solve the problem instead of being the problem.
There is no “Do-over” in life.
Jim, I love Newts silver tongue, but do you honestly believe that he can draw the Christian segment?
He sure talks a good game with loving the poor down trodden illegals, but I remain skeptical.
People like Newt ARE the problem. Career politicians and liberal butt-kissers.
He already is.
I don’t want to pick a fight with you, You own this site.
But I think Newt has a deficit in the Christian corner.
I am not casting dispersions on his faith, I’m a sinner too. I am just pointing out that Newt has issues in this regard.
No kidding? Don’t we all. I think pro-life, Reagan conservative and Reagan Coalition member Newt Gingrich will be fine with Christians. Especially as compared to a certain pro-abortion, pro-homosexual rights Reagan denying “moderate.”
This is Newt’s strategic weak spot....the lack of a field organization. He has little ground game to speak of. That leaves him in the mode of having to rely on the media and others whom he doesn’t control to spread his message.
I expect to see a Newt/mittens ticket emerge as a result.
By the way, did you notice Mitt had a smear of hair jelly on his upper lip tonight?
Or maybe it was sweat.
I think Newt is getting to him.
Something is, The guy looked rattled to me.
Any other time Newsters lack of ground game could be a real disaster. This coming election will be about how committed people already are to get rid of Oscuma.
Could be ABO and people won’t worry about being too picky.
That said, putting Mitt on the ticket would probably hurt.
Best thing would be to pick a good up and coming so we start getting some fresh faces in there for the future.
“That said, putting Mitt on the ticket would probably hurt.”
Well, it would probably result in my not voting for the gop ticket. I don’t want mittens anywhere near the White House. But I think that’s the deal Newt will make in order to get the field organization he lacks. The other option would be to work a deal with Ron Paul, but I just don’t see that happening.
If things play out how I anticipate, Newt will marry up with mittens, and Ron Paul will take a strong showing in Iowa and go third party. And things go to complete hell in a handbasket as a result. The election ends up in the House of Representatives or barky is re-elected.
Gee. Ain’t I a ray of sunshine this morning?
Gingrich said he has made mistakes and had to attone for them.
But, let’s look at his record in Congress:
He is the only candidate to lead his party to cutting an entitlement: Welfare.
He is the only candidate to lead his party to a balanced budget.
He changed congressional campaigns forever with the “Contract with America” (which also kept a promise)
So, his record is in leadership (making some bad blood along the way) and in keeping his promises to the voters.
After Gingrich left Congress, what did the GOP do without his leadership? They strayed from their values and spent like crazy.
Yes, he has said some stupid things when he was out of politics.
But nobody on that stage has the cojones to say what Gingrich said about Obama, the Palestinians, etc.
Isn’t that what we want?
Newt is looking better all the time, especially since there never was a Palin and Cain ran for the hills.
Mitt, on the ticket, makes me deathly ill. Scary thought.
Gee. Aint I a ray of sunshine this morning?
Did you forget to take your meds this AM?
Ray of sunshine?
More like a trip into clockwork orange.
Newt hates mittens, and is far too politically smart to hook up with him.
What makes you think that any mitten volunteers would work for Newt, even if their boy was on the ticket as second fiddle?
I've been to TEA party events and to local pubbie headquarters and I've never met a single person that admitted to backing mittens.
Where is his strong ground game?
Christians are all about redemption and Newt Gingrich has admitted that he has made mistakes in the past and has asked God for forgiveness. He appears to have a happy marriage with Callista for about 14 years and he is older and wiser as are we all.
Bottom line is that Newt Gingrich has a lifetime conservative rating of 90%. He has a proven track record of accomplishment, he has a plan for getting the country back on track in the 21st Century Contract For America, he will eviscerate BOR in a debate and he is more than qualified to take the 3:00 AM phone call that we know will surely come at some point.
Newt admires those who take risks and his friendship with Cain led me to speculate (and expect) that he might select Cain as his VP.
At this time, I believe he would capture the enthusiasm of more Christian conservatives if he chose Perry. A well balanced ticket. Newt could mentor Perry and Rick would keep Newt ‘real’. Rick has youth on his side for a future POTUS campaign and a stint as VP would fill in his resume on foreign policy - the workings of DC etc.,
I know Perry has said he is not interested - but this would be the national experience he needs. JMHO
