The article does not even mention other issues. For me, amnesty (which he calls "legalization" of illegals) was the final nail in the coffin. Just like Perry, he chose to make a stand in favor or amnesty despite the overwhelming opposition from americans. Once in office, do you think he softens his views?

- amnesty activist and ready to sign any amnesty bill - global warming nut - strongly supports individual mandate in OC and insists it is constitutional - admires Nancy, Hillary, Dr. Berwick (the deranged death panel activist) - supported gun grabbing bills in congress - bashes conservatives ("radical right-wing social engineering" this will be in every TV ad next year) - serial adultery - his reign in congress (inc shutdown) was a disaster

He would be leftist Dem in Dem primary.

Whoever said “Newt” was a conservative? However, if it is between a Marxist and a Republican Progressive, guess who will get my vote?

Right now we need to stop the bleeding and get back to small government. However, that won’t change unless the PEOPLE change...we have a lot of work ahead of us. If anyone believes an election cycle will change the course of this country is sadly mistaken.

All true, but who’s the better option?

I really don’t think know-nothing Cain is viable.

I’ve thought about it much more than twice....and Speaker Gingrich is still firmly on my list.

Pray for our nation to be released from the grip of evil.

If Newt is the best hope of denying the nomination to Romney, I will damn sure vote for him.

I really do not believe you have been selected the selector, but newt is as unelectable as mccain, hell he is not even registered in several of the states. A vote for newt is just selecting willard, the other rino.

Yep!...Thought about Newt once, twice, three times....
Newt is MY candidate for President!

His detractors are too lazy to read Newt’s entire 11 point illegal immigration solution.

He will kick Obama’s butt in debate and repeal most or all of his legislation and unconstitutional czar dictates.

If we give Newt a Republican advantage in the House and Senate, we will at least be able to repair the damage done by Obama.

I’ll take Newt anyday over Obamney or Huntsman or any other ‘rat.

Look, it’s down to Newt and Willard. Like it or not, that’s the choices we have and Newt by far is the best choice. When Michelle Bachman and the others get into double digits, call me. Until then, this is what we have. Barring a late entry by James Madison, Thomas Jefferson or Ronald Reagan, it’s Willard or Newt.

here’s the problem... we can only vote for who’s running.

and since Cain is dropping out due to not being able to control his weewee

and since Perry and the rest have proven themselves to be not fit.

and since Romney was never going to get our vote.

Gingrich is the winner by default.

“His detractors are too lazy to read Newt’s entire 11 point illegal immigration solution.”

Uh. He called for legalization of illegals. Period.
Once we accept that, it becomes a starting point. There is no need to read the fine print of some campaign time proposal. There has never in the history been a single detailed plan by presidential candidate that has been implemented as such.
The solution is always some messy compromise bill.

Newt clearly feels strongly about some sort of amnesty (which he does not call amnesty). Even Obama is against Amnesty (the word).

Any bill would be labeled as not amnesty.

Both Newt and Perry voiced fanatically their views on this topic despite the massive opposition. It will be obvious that they will continue the Bush/McCain amnesty way and will sign any amnesty related bill that comes their way.

Unfortunately, conservatives are quickly running out of both time and viable options. At this point Newt might just be the best of the worst. At least he hasn't managed to implode the first week he gets some national scrutiny like Bachmann/Perry/Cain. Which isn't exactly a ringing endorsement, but at this point he looks like the only real option for beating Romney.

“Look, it’s down to Newt and Willard. Like it or not, that’s the choices we have and Newt by far is the best choice. When Michelle Bachman and the others get into double digits, call me.”

False choice.
This is chicken-egg problem. Candidates get to double-digits if people are willing to consider them. Bachman and Santorum have plausible way to nomination if they perform well in Iowa (win or strong second).

Besides, since Newt supports amnesty, Global Warming, individual mandate in ObamaCare, gun brabbing and bashes conservatives in critical issue (reforming medicare ie radical right wing social engineering), why is he any better than Romney (apart from not being a mormon)?

Only Perry and Newt went public with their support for amnesty and opposition to enforcement. They are the unacceptable.

Bingo - we have a winner!
And if we make those advantages large enough, it won't matter who's in the WH.

My trust in Newt evaporated after the 1994 election, when he took that multi-million advance for a book deal. Rush was on the warpath, "it's completely legal", etc.

And it was legal...but it wasn't right. The only reason he got the big advance was he was the new Speaker, the leader of the Republican Revolution. Within weeks of assuming that mantle, he proved that he could be bought.

After several months, he backed down and gave the advance back.

Looks like Newt hasn't changed that much over the past 17 years, despite all protestations to the contrary. When the chips are down, Newt will cave. That's why I call him the Tony Romo of politics (until TR wins a Super Bowl, of course ;^)).

I live in Texas, so my vote will not be counted until it's too late. I'm watching this thing unfold day by day.

You can’t sound bite Newt. You have to hear him out. He is not for amnesty. To say that he is, is a LIE. Stop LYING about Newt’s plan. Legalize ISN”T amnesty. The “Throw them all out” bumper sticker is just a silly approach. It isn’t possible or humane or politically viable. It’s NEVER going to happen. So, let’s find a way to deal with the problem in a way that will actually be possible to accomplish.

Yeah, he even signed an amnesty bill and raised taxes a few times too.
Oh wait ...
