Like Logical me, you poisoned the well anyway:
“Forget the “hate”. Forget about revenge. Forget about “punishing” people.”

Why can’t you amnesty supporters argue without dipping into the liberals’ bag of tricks?

What do we do with millions of illegals? Warm up the cattle cars, right????

Don't be a moron.

Make them unemployable, cut-off their taxpayer funded benefits, and they'll deport themselves.

If they want to keep their families together, they can take their kids with them.

If I rob a bank, is anyone going to say "Don't send Waring to prison; it'll break-up his family"?

Of course not. And nobody should.

You’re not the host of the Ed show, are you Mr. Ed?

Or perhaps you have more in common with a certain part of the television Mr. Ed.

I am trying to illustrate a point- Newt is not for amnesty but for a PLAN of how to proceed from where we are.

Sure he is...Just like the rest of them...This is a hot issue...Newt should already have a plan...We don't wait for a plan after we are stuck with him...

Deport all illegals who are on welfare...Remove those from jobs that can be filled by American citizens...That's a start...LOCK the border until a system is in place to allow those in whom we KNOW will go back...

America and it's citizens first...

"But you can't solve a problem that took 40 years to make overnight."

Nope. But we can make sure one of the ringleaders responsible for creating the mess doesn't get a second crack at making it worse. FUNG and the donkey what bore ye hence!

“Punishing employers who hire illegals is punishing an accessory to an illegal act more harshly than the one who committed the illegal act in the first place.”

Here Sowell and I part ways.

Hiring illegal labor is a crime in and of itself. It is also the crime of origination - the crime that gives economic incentive to all the other crimes. If there was no market for illegal labor via the CRIME of the employer - there would be no crime of illegal entry and occupancy.

Moreover the best way to get rid of millions of illegal immigrants is to prevent them from working in America. When the jobs go, so will they.

No reasonable person has said ‘send them all back’. For that matter, I’ve never heard anyone say ‘send them all back’. Why pretend that is the position of those opposed to illegal immigration?

Those opposed to illegal immigration want the ‘normalization’ of illegal immigration to STOP. We do not have to accept illegal immigrants under all circumstances. When they commit crimes or try to vote in elections they are not lawfully entitled to vote in, then, yes, out they go.

When employers hire illegal immigrants, the employers need to be fined and imprisoned, if necessary (repeat offenders).

Withdraw all federal funding from so-called ‘amnesty cities’.

But stop with the premise that we just have to keep on accepting the normalization of illegal immigration and the attendant undermining of our culture and our language. Enough is enough.

Oh... just so we are on the same page... page 38 of Webster’s New Collegiate Dictionary:
AMENSTY... from the Greek word amnestia

forgetfulness... the act of an authority (as a government) by which PARDON is granted to a large group of individuals.

PARDON... the excusing of an offense without exacting a penalty. to absolve from the consequences of a fault or a crime. to relieve of a penalty improperly assessed.

Citizenship is mentioned nowhere.

Letting them stay IS amnesty.

You don’t have to deport all of them. Require e-verify for employment and harshly penalize (jail time and fines steep enough to put the company out of business) anyone caught hiring illegals.

The illegals will self-deport.

And THAT is a real, grown-up solution.

This guy broke into my house. I came home from vacation to find him living in my guest bedroom.

I was going to call the cops, but he said, “Look, I’ve already been living here all week. I even made the bed every day.

“Sure, I ate the food out of your fridge and tried on a bunch of your clothes, but I also washed the windows.

“You can’t kick me out, I have a baby living in your bedroom too. It would be inhumane and cruel. I’ll tell you what - I’ll pay you $500, you don’t have to call me a member of your family, and I get to stay.

“You won’t be granting me amnesty for breaking and entering.”

Newt said it was a good plan, and a bunch of people on Freerepublic agreed and told me it was the only practical thing to do.

After all, he had been in my house for a while and it wouldn’t make any sense to kick him out.

His only concern was what to do with families that have legal children who have citizenship because of birth.

Simple solution depart the parents and keep the children here and put them in foster care. The state/feds have a responsibility to care for the welfare of the citizens not people who are illegal. The life in foster care here will be better than life in a foreign county so that is watching out for the kid.

If only we a President with the clarity of mind Mr. Sowell has
presented over the years. For the matter if only we had a US
Government that recognized the purpose for Borders ,language, and culture being the unifying force behind our Republic.

I agree w/ a lot of what you said theoretically. However, here’s the flaw, the management company overseeing your house gave implied permission for the guy to stay there. The Dems, by their actions & policies, actually encouraged the illegals to come here, even going as far in some cases to set up “sanctuary” cities.

So, if you’re from south of the border, & don’t know an awful lot about our country, & some politicians are saying you must abide our laws, while many, many others are saying it’s ok to break our laws, what do you do if you’re looking for a better life? The Dem politicians are LAW MAKERS after all. If you were from out of the country, wouldn’t you think they had some authority?

The illegal situation is not nearly as clear cut as some make it out to be. Newt is simply putting forth a solution to fix what Dems have been doing for decades. Is it perfect? Maybe, maybe not. I don’t see many other viable thoughts being bounded about out there.

I am trying to illustrate a point- Newt is not for amnesty but for a PLAN of how to proceed from where we are.

And every time we arrive at this point it triggers a massive wave of fresh illegal immigration, as people rush to get in "under the wire" (so to speak), before the borders are (more or less) sealed.

GtG

That is the stupidest analogy I have ever read

Answer this: A man came here illegally 40 years ago, he married, had a baby here. HAd a job, bought a house. His kid grew up and got married and had babies of their own.

Now... He is here illegally, but he has worked and bought a house and the government gave him tacit approval by saying he lived in a sanctuary city.

Now Gingrich comes along and wants to enfore the immigration laws.

What do you do with this guy? Throw him out tomorrow? Take his house? If not, then I think registering him and making sure he is documnented is a good start- and NOT VOTING (no citizenship)

If not, then what would your PLAN be?
there are millions of people like this.
