Will they pay their own way?

Good questions but I don't think we can know everything concnerning an illegal. Here are just some of things that Newt wants to require and do.....

"Proficiency in English within a certain number of years, similar to the requirement for naturalization, will be required for anyone who seeks continued legal status in the United States."

"A key step in our future strength as a country must be to reinstate the importance of America in our citizenship process and our education process."

"For guest workers, the new tamper-proof, biometric cards will replace the e-verify system, which has some promising elements, but is too error-prone. Employers will be able to swipe prospective employees biometric cards, and immediately be able to confirm that these workers are in the country legally."

"Applicants must first pass a criminal background check, and then the local committees will assess applications based on family and community ties, and ability to support oneself via employment without the assistance of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and other entitlement programs."

"We must end the practice of “catch and release,” under which dangerous criminals here illegally are caught by law enforcement, but then quickly returned to society. When someone is here illegally and is dangerous, there should be expedited procedures to remove them from the United States as rapidly as possible."

How about they go through the proper immigration procedures, make sure that their children speak English before they enter public school at any level, paying for it themselves without any taxpayer help before they and their children are even considered for citizenship?

Remove automatic citizenship for anchor babies and strip all anchor babies of their bogus citizenship.

Why should we have to pay for and go through the hassle of having biometric cards because of illegal trespassers who have no respect for us,our laws, language, culture, traditions, form of government, hard won wages that they steal from us with the help of our government enablers and destroy our schools and medical system?

As for teaching them about citizenship, that’s a bad,sad joke.

Why should we have to suffer through all of this?

What you have described here sounds like a big BS scam on us,the American people.

Forget it!!!

I don’t think you read my post, for if you did, you’d have read how the biggest problem is that the government is giving them everything necessary for them to *not* assimilate.

Remove that and simple economics will force them to learn English and American culture just to get and keep a job.

And those that refuse to assimilate will starve and be tossed out on the streets... just like the last major wave of immigrants (1880~1920’s).

But whereas those really had no way to leave... these do. And so those that don’t want to assimilate will have the choice of starving or leaving. And they’ll leave.

As for the rest, they’ll assimilate and become Americans. Again, just like the last time.

That is, as long as we treat them the way we did the last time around.

With the economy in the gutter tolerance for ILLEGAL invaders is at an all time low. Americans, conservatives to be more specific, do not want amnesty. Given these factors, I think it very unlikely Newt will have any more success talking his way out of this than Perry did.

Completely agree! I've been hearing Perry fans claim for two months that Perry would recover, but things are getting worse for him - he's having to fight with Ron Paul for 4th place and is trying to stay ahead of Bachmann. Lucky for him, Bachmann has been saying just the right things to keep her from making her own recovery.

On top of that, Newt stepping in this mess has brought comparisons to Perry's "have a heart" comment and brought that comment right back into the spotlight, which does Perry no good.

Who is going to deport them all at this point? Will any candidate make that stand?

Offering anything that approaches an amnesty, or that takes away their illegal status does nothing but encourage more illegals to come here. I still can't get over Newt's comments, still can't get over Perry's "have a heart" and his plan to grant work visas for the illegals so they can freely move back and forth between countries. These are things that do nothing but encourage more illegals to come here.

I may not like Ron Paul but at least he wants to deport them. And given the ups and downs of this primary, Paul could very well be at the top of the field in 5 weeks.
