The Republicans who agreed to this Faustian Bargain should be ashamed of themselves.

At least we know Democrats are evil. Republicans go around and tell us they are sane - but it is a lie.

It’s the Republicans fault that the Democrats don’t want a deal and Obama will even veto any deal they would have come up with anyway. lol.

Defense spending as a percentage of GDP is at a historic low, and is about to go into red line territory.

What that chart does not show is that spending on the military has been cut further under Obama. There are also two side to the Defense budget - its "real" budget, and Overseas Contingency Operations budget, which is used to fund wars like Iraq and Afghanistan. That has been cut even further (as it should), but the Democrats tapped that keg as "savings" so that their precious runaway Entitlement spending could cook the books even more.

Forbes says U.S. defense spending, measured against GDP, is near historic low

The DoD just took in $350 Billion in real cuts, even before the "Super Committee" failed.

Now, the Faustian Bargain the Republicans made will devastate the Defense Department.

One terrifying truth is now laid naked: entitlement spending is breaking the back of this nation, and a bunch of lazy, greedy Americans now suck at the teat at an alarming rate. And...they won't give up their addiction to direct deposit checks. Ever.

That’s fine, Barky. I want the cuts.

Do you know what the cuts are? Any time zero (or any Rat for that mater) advocates cuts in spending you have to ask yourself just what it is he's talking about. In this case he's talking about gutting the military. I hope this isn't the type of cuts you were expecting.

Shall I post pictures of the Marine Barracks being blown up in Lebanon during Reagan’s first term?

These incidence during the Carter years had to do with incompetence, not money.

Agreed. Every time I think that I can’t possibly despise Obama any more than I already do, he does something else to prove me wrong.

And he will be over-ridden.

If you can get congressional dims and pubs to agree on a bill, they'll have the votes.

And this douchebag tries to make himself look like the budget-cutter who makes the hard decisions.

What utter, complete bulls**t. And his lapdog, lickspittle media will wet itself with delight.

The GOP house should send another cuts-only bill to the Senate and stand pat.

No more meetings, no more talk.

It's a good election strategy and it's good conservative policy.

Yes, entitlement spending needs to be brought under control even more so than defense. But we still need to cut defense. If there’s a “red line” we shouldn’t cross with defense spending as a “fraction of GDP”, where is it?

"Exactly correct with emphasis on the word "skillfully". This is what a skilled, polished politician can do. He can preside over an economy in shambles, run up previously undreamt of levels of debt, and basically make a complete mess of things, and yet still be doing disturbingly well in the court of public opinion and have a perfectly legitimate chance of winning re-election. As I've said, being right on the issues isn't even half the battle when it comes to getting elected. Human beings are mostly followers and sheep, and a skilled politician can fool them much of the time. We better bring our A game to the 2012 campaign, because Hussein is going to be extremely difficult to beat and will get no less than 45% of the vote - probably more. "

All true.

Freepers generally don't realize issues don't matter to the dumb bastards in the middle that decide elections.

We all want cuts but in other people’s programs. We all want to raise everyone else’s taxes. Failure of a demos to exercise any sense of rationality.

Someone needs to post that comic of Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown ... “Come on Charlie, let’s cut the budget ...”

It’s true that Democrats aren’t very rational. That’s why they would do the country a great service by dissolving forever. Doesn’t mean national security hawks can’t be irrational as well.
