Leon Panetta Makes Foreign Policy Gaffe (Says INDIA is a THREAT to America, like China)

Every once in a while some American politician reveals what American government truly thinks about India. That is the only gaffe.

The assumption being, even a republican would say such a thing in the first place. Which would mean that its a common perspective across the political spectrum. In which case I don’t seen the need for any media to make a big deal out of what might actually be a common public opinion.

Well, this is the new world order, in which you insult your friends and make nice to your enemies. Panetta is just showing how “worldly” he is by making China and India equivalent. Isn’t that the United Nations way?

Unfortunately, there is just enough of a radical element there to keep Ahmadinejad and his ilk in power.

Yes there is. At most 15% of the population (am including members of the Revolutionary Guard in that too). One can never realistically expect 100% of any population to be against any regime.

There is also the regular/traditional Iranian military, who were disarmed by the mullahs' regime & remain to be - they are completely against the regime.

Why not help Iranian dissidents, various ethnic grps, and the regular Iranian military to bring down the regime? Carter admin w/ the help of Europeans gov'ts did that with the Shah. So, the US & EU are very capable planning for & executing a similar strategy again. Why don't they want to? That's the question.

That’s right, Panetta knows that India is a threat to AMERIKA (his country), India is not a threat and as a matter of fact it is a friend (one of our few allies) to my America (The United States of America)!

Many years ago, I read an article, written in the late ‘30s by an Englishman who had a German friend who studied at Oxford. He went to visit his friend and discovered that the family were members of the Nazi Party. After spending some weeks with them, he found that he had entered a different moral universe. They remained the same attractive,polite, intelligent persons he had first met, but snatches of Nazi doctrine daily worked their way into the conversions, until he realized how little, deep down, he , as an Englishman, had in common with them. They parted on good terms, and his friend and his sister saw him off at the train Station in Munich. Two years later they still corresponded, but now every word was freighted with a different meeting. Sometimes I fear that we in America are moving toward such a thing. Our fearless leader is not a Nazi or Communist, but his every word is shadowed by a light. different from the one I see by.

>> Never had a military coup since gaining freedom in 1947.

>> India has never invaded any foreign country to conquer and control and occupy, basically exactly same as US.

>> India on the other hand was invaded by a variety of entities. Alexander the Great and other Greeks arrived in India. The ancient Persian Empire expanded its boundaries up to India. There were other Greeks who arrived in India and established kingdoms in India. Others to arrive in ancient India were Scythians, Kushans and Huns. These invaders also established some kingdoms in India. At a much later period there were Muslim invaders - Turks, Arabs, Afghans and others. And of course the Europeans - Portuguese, Danish, Dutch, French and English.
