Who would you have liked to see in the running? DeMint? Palin? Just curious.
I think you’re right. Certainly none of my conservative friends or family visit or post on FR.
Actually, it’s probably a good idea that Newt is leading in a poll or two. He’s now wide open for the “frontrunner treatment”. There’s a lot of stuff out there that is not positive for Newt. It will all come out now.
His only explantion for the Pelosi love seat climate change ad is “inexplicable”. I, for one, think that is a “no sale”.
I couldn't really identify any fully-qualified leaders in the GOP. IMO, the GOP is a wasteland of executive talent. Demint might have been good, but I don't love senators as president.
I'd prefer a governor. Preferably a two-termer. If you want to be president, prove yourself by serving as chief executive in one of our 50 republican governments first. It's not too much to ask. And then prove you can get re-elected.
Way back at the beginning of the process, I was interested in Gov. Daniels from IN, but he had his faults too. He was going to have to answer for being GWB's budget director, and I hadn't been impressed with the answers he'd given on that question. And of course, he pissed off the base by making the mistake of prioritizing the economy and fiscal crisis ahead of penny-ante abortion politics and gay marriage, etc. But I might have supported him. His record in IN seems pretty solid. He sort of reminds me of Coolidge.
Then Perry came along. I wasn't that familiar with him, but he met my criteria, so I was hopeful. Those hopes were quickly dashed when I learned he was a stammering dunce.
So I would say, unless I've overlooked someone, Daniels was someone who isn't in who I was interested in, but it's not like he was a white knight or anything.
Newt’s my first choice, but I would cheerily vote for Cain, Perry, Bachmann, or even Paul in preference to Zero. I’m not one of the circular firing squad.
Thanks for informing me. I’m pretty ignorant.
Seriously, I KNOW New Hampshire allows cross-over votes. Its a problem state for this reason. Dmes cross over there and vote in GOP primaries to influence who gets nomianted. Its an aberration and a good reason to have a NATIONAL primary day. Most other states do not. And I stick to my contention that “independents” generally do not vote in primaries, party members do. That’s why they are called “independents”.
How many states have Open PRimaries?
The media would like for republicans to believe that the majority of republican voters agree with the liberal women that have came out and accused Cain of sexual improprieties. Well they don’t. They want you to believe it makes no difference that Gloria Allred is involved. Republican women see her as the great crusader for abused women. Yea, and a cat’s got a carberator. Do not believe any CNN poll or mainstream media poll that says Cain’s numbers have dropped because of these decades old charges. The media wants Cain to go away. They are scared to death that he would run against the fake and fraud Obama and beat him. A conservative black man that would show other blacks that you can be a success in this country if you only have the courage to get off the democratic plantation. That is the reason he is being smeared. If the Iowa results come in and Cain finishes in third place or worse, then start to worry. But, please, ignore these left-leaning polls. It’s too bad that Faux News does not ignore them, but like the rest of the media Faux is in the tank for Romney.
I still do not see Willard the liberal winning Iowa or SC. If he loses both I think he’s toast. A morman, and a liberal morman at that taking the SC primary? Cows will fly first.
And we expect to believe anything that comes out from the Communist News Network.
The problem with Obama is not his qualifications (or lack thereof). What he’s doing is not due to incompetence, but rather his Socialist agenda. He’s done exactly what he said he would do when he was campaigning!
As for the ‘debate’ with Newt, my understanding is it was an agreed-upon format that Newt would answer the questions first in the first segment, Cain would answer first in the second segment. The question when he deferred to Newt was asked in the first segment, therefore it was proper that Newt go first.
