That is awful. The children that suffered while they did nothing. Joe Pa too. Unforgivable.

Will Sandusky off himself?

Tatoo child molester on his forehead and release him in the general prison population. He’ll go from a Tight End to a Wide Receiver in an hour.

No. I think JoePa should have retired years ago. However, to think Joe Paterno KNEW about this and did nothing is absurd. I am more concerned about what the AD knew.

Attacking Joe Paterno on this is weak.

Do you really think this scumbag got started raping boys only after retiring? Do you really believe that 2002 was the first time it came up? This scum is in his 60’s.

Even if JoePa never heard a whisper before 2002 he should have made sure justice was done after employing the scum for decades.

i read the grand jury report earlier today.

I believe the first sexual attack reported was in 1999.

Yeah sure, Bunky. And how would he do that beyond reporting him to the cops and testifying before the grand jury, which he did? He's a football coach, not a police investigator or a district attorney. Get a brain.

So? He was in his mid 50’s then. He started his “charity” Second Mile, in 1977.

Are you so naive as to think he just turned homosexual pedophile predator when he hit his 50’s?

Yeah, there'll be a LINE in BACK of him.

back off my FRiend.

I told you what the grand jury found.

From reading the report it is obvious that he used the foundation to find, and groom his victims.

Paterno saying he told the AD about it is equivalent to a Catholic priest saying "I told the bishop about it" when he learned that a former employee was abusing kids on church property.

If it's not an alibi for the priest (and it shouldn't be), it's not an alibi for the football coach.

Still less is it an alibi for the dumb horse's behind who actually witnessed the abuse and didn't call the cops immediately.

Sorry, it occurred to me right after I posted that I misread the intent of your post.

You are correct of course. I’m a bit blinded by anger on this one.

Didn’t he wonder why nothing was ever done after he told the AD?

Paterno knew of only the one allegation, and he says the assistant coach who reported seeing the inappropriate behavior did not get into any specifics. Paterno wasn't entirely sure about what he was dealing with. But he did the right thing and immediately reported it to the people who were supposed to follow through.

We really don't know for sure what Paterno may or may not have done in the interim. For all we know, Joe did indeed continue to inquire about the matter. Beyond that, what was he supposed to do based on one allegation?

FRegards,
LH

Well, that's true. But of course the rest of your post therefore makes no sense since Paterno DID call the cops immediately.

The grand jury also noted that the 1998 report involving Sandusky and boys in the showers was reviewed by University Police and Child Protective Services, with the blessing of Wendell Courtney, who at the time served as University Counsel and was (and remains) counsel to The Second Mile - though no criminal charges were ever pursued.

By the way, what I find most intriguing is that the homo hugging Penn State President Graham Spanier hasn’t been indicted. Yet.

In the fall of 2000, according to prosecutors, a janitor found Sandusky in the showers of the football building performing oral sex on a young boy pinned against a wall. The janitor, distraught, told a fellow employee that he had seen people killed in the Korean War, but that he had just see something he would never forget. The employee thought the janitor was at risk of a heart attack.
In the end, no report was made, not by the janitor or the fellow employee he had told, both of whom, according to prosecutors, worried about their job security. And not by the janitor’s supervisor, who also had been informed.

Begs the question, why did they worry about their jobs?

He did NOT report it to the cops, just his boss. Then he dropped it:

Per a grand jury’s indictment of Sandusky, Paterno followed the chain of command when alerted to an “incident” involving Sandusky in 2002 — per the grand jury, Sandusky was witnessed by a graduate football assistant engaged in anal sex with a 10-year-old in the shower of the Lasch Football Building — informing athletic director Tim Curley of “something” involving the now-retired assistant coach. The school’s administration allegedly took no action when it came to the alleged incident other than slapping Sandusky, who at the time was retired but was given an office and access to all things PSU, on the wrist, failing to report allegations of sexual abuse of minors as required by law.

According to the attorneys we have spoken to over the past 48 hours, Paterno was technically correct in his approach to the situation; he reported it to his superior. Morally, ethically, not reporting the allegations of sexual abuse of children to the authorities after it was clear that the administration he had reported the incident to was going to sit on its hands? That’s the blurred line of a moving target that shouldn’t be so blurred, so moving.

You seem upset, bunky, that your hero screwed up. If you ever have someone come to you and report they witnessed the rape of a ten year old let's hope you now have learned that it's not enough to tell your boss and forget about it.

I know it must be hard for you to see your hero now disgraced, but calling people names isn't going to change that.
