Just out of curiosity, and NOT that I recommend it, but have you read the grand jury report?
Just the Wallstreet Journal story late last night.
The only reason JoePa is not charged is because of his legendary status he was not given as much of an opportunity to perjure himself. This is sick sick stuff. JoePa’s friend was raping children in his shower and he is supposed to follow the “chain of command”? Is that what you would do?
Why did JoePa allow this man on campus and around children after a member of his staff WITNESSED anal rape of a child in his locker room showers? He made no attempt to stop it after multiple assaults. One phone call from JoePa is all it would have taken
You need stop stop being in denial and defending JoePa. It’s only going to get worse once more facts come out.
“My favorite part is how the original DA just up and vanished in 2005.”
Ray Gricar, just declared legally dead by the courts....
A VERY big deal that got swept under the rugs, real quick.
Paterno immediately reported the incident to Curley (the AD) and Schultz (the head of University Police, who are ‘real’ cops). Is the complaint now that he didn’t report it to the ‘right’ police? There was a lengthy grand jury investigation and they didn’t find Paterno at fault for anything. I’m not sure what else you need. The information available is quite detailed.
For the record I do not care for Paterno. While his wife is cheerful and pleasant, Paterno is unfriendly, bitter, and angry. He doesn’t even believe he needs to stop at stop signs (though I can now say that I flipped off and gave a big FU to him). That said, from the available information I believe Joe did the right thing.
FWIW, my opinion of Paterno did a 180 after I read the grand jury report.
“Paterno only had a second hand accusation to go on. He wasnt a witness.”
This was the second documented PUBLIC accusation of child sex assault that JoePa kicked upstairs and did not follow up on. How much more do we need to know? How much more don’t we know?
Why did JoePa allow this perp around children and young men after multiple accusations of sex assault? No falsely accused man showers again with young boys. He is guilty. JoePa & everyone else at PSU knew that.
The only logically explanation to the inaction is that everyone at Penn State was in CYA mode. Meanwhile, more boys were being assaulted for years.
Point.
Hadn’t read the grand jury report that Paterno was given so much detail and then downplayed the act.
His legacy will be something different now.
The Second Mile is apparently a Catholic youth organization.

This behavior is regarded as being learned, ie the molestors were themselves molested as a child.
Quite the horrid price to pay for having been “tolerant” in the past. The damage appears to have spread like a cancer. Some of these boys will be warped for life and will end up perpetuating the cycle.
This.
I am not a Paterno fan either, but the idea he did not report this incident to the Police is flat out wrong. I work for a major University, and if I had a report that something like this had happened, I absolutely would take it to the Chief of Police for our campus. From there, I would trust him to pass it on to higher authorities if the situation warranted it.
That said, WTF was Paterno doing letting the guy back on campus to use his facilities after this occurred?
Just curious, and not passing judgement. But why wouldn’t you call the real police? After all of the stories we hear about cover ups of this stuff, would you trust the “internal” process.
No it's not.
You referenced its entry in "Manta.com", which says:
Second Mile in Camp Hill, PA is a private company categorized under Youth Organizations. Our records show it was established in 1977 and incorporated in Pennsylvania. Register for free to see additional information such as annual revenue and employment figures. Companies like Second Mile usually offer: Youth Soccer Organizations, Youth Development Organizations, Catholic Youth Organizations, Youth Football Organizations and La Costa Youth Organization.
If you take a look at their board of directors (listed on the website), you will see no clergy members of any denomination. Nor will you see any affiliation with any religious organization.
The reason "manta" lists "Catholic Youth Organizations" is because CYO's serve similar purposes to this organization, not that there is any affiliation.
Another disgusting homo caught in the act of their sick obsession. IN time, all of the acts of a homo will be couched in their rights as a minority. Who would ever have thought they would be allowed marital status and to adopt same-sex children—just like ancient Rome and the catamites.
I do not unterstand why the graduate student who witnessed the assault did not intervene.
I'm sorry, but if I see a man anally raping a child, I'm going to physically stop the act and take the child to the hospital. The coroner can mop up what's left.
Merely an extension of the homosexual lifestyle. See nambla.org. They marched openly in many “gay” pride parades.
The Chief of Police on our campus was formerly the Chief of a major U.S. city before he took their early retirement and accepted our job. I am pretty sure all our officers were previously employed by other police departments.
I would have full confidence in them to handle the situation appropriately.
Sorry...I did not read the entire thread before posting. Most schools I work with (I am involved with college athletics in several places.) do not have “real” police. But the state universities do have troopers on campus. My mistake.
