So ... how is the name pronounced? Like Julia? Curious.
Congratulations to the French First Family Carla and Nicolas Sarkozy, sons, Pierre, Jean, Louis, and Aurélien and baby Giulia.
The arrival of a baby girl is a great blessing.
WELCOME TO THE WORLD, GIULIA, AND GOD BLESS!
Interesting that Bruni, while the French First Lady, is Italian, did choose an Italian name.
You got it right! Giulia is pronounced Julia.
Carla has become a French citizen, but she was born Carla Bruni-Tedeschi in Turin, Italy.
I’m wondering if there will be a baptism. Sarko’s olde sons Pierre and Jean were baptized; his first wife is an observant Catholic. Not sure about le petit, Louis, now 13, his son with second wife Cécilia.
Congrats!
I hope the baby looks like Carla!
Now, if the parents would just go see COURAGEOUS.
Carla comes from a very old Italian family. A nice nod to her Italian heritage, IMO.
Same as Giada di Laurentiis. She was born in the USA into a family with strong Italian roots.
I don’t see the problem, do you?
Not at all, glad Nikolas went along with it. I gave one of my kids a Polish variation of his first name as a nod to my heritage, while our other kid has a Spanish variation of their name as a nod to my wife’s heritage.

Children are always a great blessing.
I’m sure the names are beautiful. I’ll bet it made the grandparents happy, too ;}
If I looked like Carla I’d get a surrogate.
Nicolas Sarkozy on France’s Christian Heritage
by Nicolas Sarkozy
March 3, 2011
Christianity left us a magnificent heritage of civilization. I am the president of a secular Republic, but I can say that because it is the truth, I am not engaging in proselytism [...] We are compelled by this heritage. We must not only transmit it, but also assume it without complexes.
Godspeed, sweet pea.
Surrogate mothers and artificial procreation is illegal in France.
Giulia is Carla’s second child. Her son, Aurélien, is 10.
I have friends with 3 & 4 children who look terrific.
French women, in particular, take great care if themselves, and are given special diet and exercise coaching in their post natal care.
I was just about to post something similar. Well done!
Giulia was my Italian great-grandmother’s name.
