It is worse than that; Freepers now quote, with regulary frequency, Politico, the AP, The Nation, The Hill, The Atlantic, and you might lose your last meal on this, during the debt ceiling debate one Freeper even quoted Dana Milbank - I kid you not.

I really don’t care about debates. The problem is that it takes the same skills to win the people to your position. That counts.

This item is listed as “Editorial”, not as fact.

If you watched the debate and have a differing opinion then offer it up.

Unless you want to make the case that Perry has not done poorly in the debates (which he himself admitted to) then you don’t have a case here.

Perry isn't fit for leading the United States because he's a puppet of the Mexican government. The guy is a traitor for giving illegals who have broken our laws benefits that American citizens in the other 49 States are denied, and does nothing but act as an incentive for more illegal immigration. It's not something Conservatives have ever supported and never will. It wasn't supported by the majority in Texas, and it's not supported by the majority of all Americans

Perry needs to stop acting like he is someone like the patriots who founded our Republic, apparently in the 1800’s according to Perry which was something I didn't know. I guess that's something you would expect a guy who started to play this role awhile back when he decided to run for President.

I knew he was planning to run when he started to get into his new act and talked about seceding from the Union and how he was all for State rights. Then he ask Obama for National Guard troops who he has the right to call up himself as Governor. It was obvious he's all talk when it comes to anything Conservative. He only actually takes action on the liberal issues which is shown to be fact based on his record. I already knew he was finished and won't regain the support he has lost when it came out that he supports illegal immigration and looks like a puppet of Mexico; reminds me of the Frenchman Pétain during WW2, only Perry was never held in high regard by anyone.

whether Rick Perry is medicated due to chronic back pain problems.

I have chronic back problems for which I take pretty strong medication. My husband only wishes my communication was "lackluster". LOLOLO)L!

Perry's just bad at debating, IMO

There are too many people in these debates right now to let any one candidate have the time to explain a position. On the substance last night, Perry, actually made no mistakes. If one would have listened last night and also know Perry's record, he actually had quite a good night.

It is Newt who is scoring points in these debates. Newt is likely to come in the cross hairs of the Romney people next debate as he would likely take votes from Romney.

The display with Romney and Bachmann and even Cain was disappointing. Cain did not help himself last night and what was up with that question from Romney for Bachmann?

The woman who stated she was told to ask her question of Romney was certainly curious.

Debate prep won’t help Perry. You are looking at him as he is. He’s consistently avoided debates here and the fact that so many of his opponents have been nobodies has allowed him to get away with it.

He can be okay speaking, but, a debate is not his thing and he has never done well at it.

To run and win POTUS, you have to be able to string together a few nouns and vowels making a coherent statement. He will not be able to avoid debating Obama in the General-if he does, he’ll appear evasive, afraid, and not serious. He’ll be skewered. If he does, considering his body of work, he’ll look lost, slow, and incoherent.

It’s not good....

Perry makes George W. Bush sound like William F. Buckley.

Lol. Sad but true.

Maybe it has something to do with having the initials RP?

He didn’t get much time last night and that’s probably a good thing. The debates so far haven’t helped him much.

Did you hear Perry say - early in the debates - that “The American people were untrustworthy...” when he meant to say “The American people do not trust...” (I think in a garbled reference to the government.) So cringe-worthy!

Agree he did nothing to help himself last night . . .again. But how many Americans watch these debates? If he were to be the nominee, all the current field will back him. He’d get enough momentum to wipe the floor with Obama, even during a debate. The contrast would be stark. I think it’s way too early to count him out. But its certainly looking more and more like Romney, and if he’s what it takes to beat O, I’m with it.

Since he's front runner and a fairly successful businessman, I had hoped that I might like Romney a bit more, not less.

Since he's from Texas and says a lot of things I agree with, I had hoped that I would be won over by Perry, instead of being somewhat grateful he's not doing well in the debates.

Since she has taken the fight to the demonrats and has been someone I have admired for standing on principle, I had hoped Bachmann would rise to the top instead of sinking like a rock.

Since I've heard Cain's program on 750am many times and remembering his taking Clinton apart over Hillarycare, I know the man is intelligent, accomplished and I have a fairly good idea of where he stands, so I was initially disappointed he was showing his inexperience. He has risen to the occasion in these debates and he's clearly a contender.

Since Gingrich is one of the heroes the Reagan revolution who then fell from grace faster than a prom dress thanks to his personal issues, and then sank to even lower thanks to AlgoreBull warming and couch time with SanFranInsanityNan, I long ago had written him off. But, in the debates, he shows me some of why he was so successful as Speaker and why I admired him so much during the late 80s and early to mid-90s.

Since Romney is still considered the front runner, it's a good thing it's only October 2011.

Perry had the misfortune of running in a year with a record number of debates. I have never seen an election for anything with so many freaking debates. All these debates have managed to do is destroy all the conservatives while proping up Romney.

This is all a big set up by the media to give us Romney.

Every question is poised to destroy anyone but Romney showing promise, and to elevate anyone thinking of dropping out to keep them in the race and divide the conservative vote. Why why WHY would the Republicans allows liberal moderators to control the narative like this? There was only ONE debate worth a darn this whole season, the Tea Party debate that Perry missed because of the fires. Which is a shame because I think he would of done well in that particular format and then could of refused to participate in any of these idiot liberal debates where not a SINGLE conservative issue had been brought up YET!

think about it...

abortion?
gay marriage?
gun control?
God?

none of these issues has been brought up even once in all these debates, and make no mistake it’s on purpose to help Romney and hurt everyone else.

Unfortunately true thus far. As we well know, however, good debaters don’t always make good presidents. If Perry is up to the job, he has to find a way around this issue.

I disagree, Romney is happy as a clam to have Newt and the others in the race each grabbing 10% or so of the vote since he can’t get his numbers above 25%. That’s his whole plan to get the nomination prop up whoever is fading away, and tear down anyone who gets to much strength.
