Reid never even attempted to bring it to a floor vote, and it had zero co-sponsors in the Senate or House, but the Republicans killed the bill.
Sure..
Here’s what would be kind of funny. Suppose Collins, Snowe, Kirk, Brown, Muckowski, etc - some of those folks - all vote for the bill, and Reid picks up enough Republican votes to pass it.
Suddenly, that would put Democrats - like Tester, McWhatserface, The Nelson’s, etc - in the position of having to kill it. Or face a brutal election environment with even more pathetic voting records.
If I was a GOP Senator not up for re-election, and/or with sufficiently established conservative credentials - like Jim DeMint or Marco Rubio, say - I’d consider voting for it just to put the squeeze on the Dems.
Then we would see the Democrats kill the bill. Very Funny!
With all due respect, I’m laughing hard enough already./sarc
Why must conservatives need to play games instead of getting out over the heads of the press and telling the people what the truth is. It’s not like it is tough because almost always the truth is far simlper to grasp than a lie, and it is always repeatable.
How are republicans going to do this if they’re the minority and there’s no fillibuster permitted?
“getting out over the heads of the press and telling the people what the truth is”
Isn’t that a contradiction? Isn’t the express purpose - theoretically - of the Press to tell the people what the truth is? Unfortunately purveyors of the truth don’t control the mainstream media, rather, the Dems/Libs do. That’s why Solyndra and FnF can’t get the traction they deserve. Imagine if Bush43’s administration had been behind Solyndra or FnF...
I think that’s the whole point of this thread, that the media is spinning it that the Republicans will be to blame for killing this bill, when we all know that its toxicity is even scaring off the Demons.
We know the media is not and will not do their jobs. The same was true during the Reagan Presidency, but he found a way to go over their heads and get his message out.
It was simple and easy to grasp and that is why it resonated. All too often we have lawyers trying to convey a simple message and we know that dog doesn’t hunt.
