If he weren’t black, the moderators would give him more time in the spotlight. He —besides Newt and Paul-is the most articulate guy up there.

He can strategerize after he gets the nomination. Now it’s bad strategy to P.O. his base.

I thought the issue was that the Dems had pushed a bunch of green-jobs crap into the FEMA bill. Not funding the green jobs scam is a fight worth having, IMO.

I agree. There's no way Republicans can support the democrats wasteful spending spree right now (or ever). PUSH the FEMA relief only, and force the democrats to say no. Put disaster relief into their hands, and end it there. The Republicans will have done the right thing.

Does Bachmann get less time because she’s female, does Santorum get less time because he looks like Adam Shandler in the Waterboy?

Romney seems to get the most time and Perry collected attention for two reasons.

One is that Perry jumped in with high favorability numbers, two because some of the other candidates can’t help spending some of their time jumping on Perry.

When candidates jump Perry, that gives Perry rebuttal time and that takes time away from other candidates.

That is one thing I appreciate about Cain, he doesn’t give extra spot-light to other candidates by playing attack.

Part of the reason Cain gets less time is because he debates with class and in a respectful manner. That’s smart.

Cain will have more face time this next debate, now that he won the Fl straw poll.

I don’t think it has anything to do with Mr Cain’s skin color.

Well, looks like Cain was wrong on this one, and so was I.

It's no accident that the bulk of our environmental laws were instituted immediately after the collapse of the Brettonwoods agreement.

Very interesting insight. I read a lot on economics and economic history, yet I don't think I've ever seen that point mentioned by anyone.

Will peruse your site as soon as possible and get back to you. Many thanks!

Live your principles, stay as close as you can to high ideals. Praise those who do so.

Wayne Hage's Storm over Rangelands is as good a discussion of the history and legalities concerning property rights and split-estate Federal lands as you will find anywhere. What was really interesting was to hear what Wayne had to say about it in person. My book is more about cause and effect relationships of the economic motivations underlying regulatory governance.

RE :”I think I agree with Cain on this one

This is part of a CR to cover a small part of FY12 which starts November 1. Eventually they will need a FY12 budget to get out of short term CRs.

The problem with this standard Washington strategy ‘Spend the money now and worry about the debt later” agreed here now by Christie and Cain is that supposedly congress/Obama passed a deficit reduction bill (bi-partision deal) that was supposed to put limits on spending.

But here we are immediately making excuses to violate it mainly for political reasons. And why will the next congress and next POTUS in 2013 honor a debt limit deal with the cuts that the ones that passed it wont before the cuts? Because we will be tougher then?

Okay folks, is Herman the newest person to be labeled a RINO?

Well, that Politically Pure honeymoon did not last long.

That "playing with people's tragedies" comments sounds a lot like a "heartless" comment. < sarc> My conservative Inner Child feels sooooo insulted and sooooo violated. < /sarc>

Imagine how Governor Ronald Reagan, Version 1980, would be treated today by the Political Purity Police.

Reagan's son Michael Reagan comments about how his father would have fared in the primaries today: ….. "If you look at my father and you just knew him as governor -- raised taxes, signed an abortion bill, no-fault divorce, and a few other things -- today, the argument against him would come from the Right; not from the Left. ….. He would have trouble getting his own nomination, but yet he ended up being the greatest president in our lifetimes. ….. We need to look at the whole package, the whole picture, everybody, and stop nit-picking ourselves to death."

Meanwhile, the most liberal GOP candidate, Mitt Romney, stands on the sidelines and smiles.

My major worry about Cain (apart from never having won an election in his life) is that he has not fully thought out the consequences of introducing a Federal Sales Tax. (Cain's a smart guy and he needs to think that through.) However, to equate "RINO" with "Everybody that does not agree with me 100%" is a guarantee of ending up with no surviving GOP candidate other than Romney.
