That - how to run a campaign - is NOT my point.
My point is how is the electorate - the GOP component of the electorate, is served, or not served by that strategy.
Regardless of Mr. Perry’s perspective, from the perspective of the GOP electorate, extensive scrutiny and vetting of the “no one can beat this guy” early front runner is shortchanged by the successful execution of that strategy.
Some might even contend that shortchanging of the vetting process, and the scrutinizing of the candidate IS one of the purposes of such a strategy.
No matter how it might serve the immediate aims of the candidate, I do not think it serves the party, the electorate in the party, best.
