You're exactly right, caww. The only problem the other candidates have is Palin is a natural leader and a genuine people-person. Every place she goes people gravitate to her and listen to her. Those that say she does not appeal to independents are simply wrong. She sticks to her conservative principles, and is tough. People sense she is not phony. Cain is the only one who is close to her in this respect. Obama is a cold, elitist-type who has no genuine interest in everyday people.

Her Restoring America mantra is exactly the way she would run a campaign - no special interest groups “owning” you when you get elected. Speak directly to the people. Totally opposite of Obama.

Constitution Day may be on the 17th but it is scheduled to be celebrated,by the powers that be and their love of 3 day weekends,on Friday the 16th.
Constitution Day,of course, opens Constitution Week and thus makes an ideal period of time for launching a “RESPECT THE CONSTITUTION” presidential campaign.

“If you think that a 1/2 term governor who was run out of office by the DNC machine can win then you are equally crazy.

See the name calling can go both ways.”

Hey, Carville,... you STILL hanging around the Palin threads?

I can assure you that Sara Palin has gotten very, very wealthy through politics. Not by kick backs or quid pro quo, but by media attention.

In other words, she did it fair and square and not on the back of any voters or taxpayers.

More power to her.

“I think her calling him out on his ‘hobbit’ remark let him know, she drew the line in the sand...

Everybody has a limit to what they will take from a so-called friend...sounds to me like that hobbit deal was the last straw...”

Even though this may have been the intent, nobody can call it a betrayal or even disrespect of the guy who approved her for the VP slot in ‘08, because the hobbit remark did not even originate with McCain; it was just read on the Senate floor by McCain, an attributed editorial quote from a newspaper. It was one of four labels thrown at tea-partiers meant to be pejoratives she mentioned in her speech.

Amazing how even this small detail in a 42 minute long speech is being analyzed and discussed.

I’ve always been a Sarah supporter, SoCon, but I don’t have to trash my own governor with lies to be one. I live in Texas in great posperity, thanks to the help of Perry’s very conservative leadership. In fact, if Sarah doesn’t run, he’ll get my full backing. He’ll get the job done. But he’s a plodder, and a persuader.

But no other candidate will damn the torpoedoes like Sarah Palin will. She’ll not only clean the house, she’ll use their butts for a mop to do it. And that’s going to be a pleasure beyond measure after watching government and politics deteriorate to what it’s become.

Absolutely true. I personally think she would make a great President and more so than anyone one else who might be nominated, she be the right person at the right time.

Her biggest negative is that she resigned her elected position at a time when she was being persecuted by the media that was out to destroy her and then went on to make a fortune.

She will have to adequately explain her actions before she can be put into another elected executive position. S

he did a very good job as Gov before she resigned and showed an ability to take on cronyism and corruption while in office.

I like Palin a lot. But I dont think she can overcome the “half-term govenor” moniker. That big mistake will do her in. Very sad actually.

In the future the question might be asked...

"Where were you when Sarah announced?"

In a recent interview, Dick Cheney (promoting his book, IN MY TIME) stated that her resigning as governor caused him pause and caused reservations on her candidacy.

I would like to ask Dick Cheney "With all the lawsuits that were filed against him as Vice-President, how much of a PERSONAL financial burden was placed on him?" I would like to know if the taxpayers covered all his legal expenses?

"My plan is about empowerment: empowerment of our states, empowerment of our entrepreneurs, most importantly empowerment of you – our hardworking individuals – because I have faith, I have trust, I have respect for you."

She's got a plan. She's running!

Seriously, with this speech, she crossed the Rubicon. Even if she didn't come right out and say it, she smacked McCain, dissed Perry, dumped all over Obama and declared war on the Permanent Political Class (which I call the Cocktail Party) and laid out just how she expects to change things.

One interesting aspect of her speech is her promise/threat to break the back of crony capitalism by severing the money links between the political interests and industry. Eliminating corporate income tax and deregulating the industries could be very appealing to corporate boardrooms, who obviously realize that the current model is doomed in the long-term.

Game on!

Game on indeed! I for one APPRECIATED her quitting the Governorship in the way she did. She was under attack, causing her personal financial hardship, the State of Alaska was having to spend enormous time and money investigating each and every allegation, and it was disrupting time-wise to both the Governor’s duties and the State as well.

Her quitting and leaving the job to her next-in-line with the same goals and leanings, to me, was tactically brilliant. She may have gotten a “quitter” tag from the faithless, and ignorant, but it was sheer genius from where I sit. She cut her opponents off at the knees, was able to recoup her personal expenses and then some, retain the spotlight, leave her State in capable hands, and dominate the news from her Facebook page. How is this in any way a “quitter?”

On the contrary, her out of the box thinking is taking everyone by surprise, keeping everyone tilted and off balance. Even as an unannounced candidate she dominates Washington’s attention.

I’ve never been excited about a Presidential Candidate, and I’ve never sent money to one. Sarah I will support with cash. When McCain announced her for VP, I threw my hands up in the air and got all excited. I’m still that enthusiastic for a Palin Presidency. She really is one of the People.
