Al Gore sure thought so when Perry helped his campaign out! You remember Al “Global Warming” Gore, the Arch conservative that Rick worked for round 88 or so don’t you? Al Gore, Conservative Godfather of Drilling for oil and energy independence? Al the Great and his regulations that destroyed millions of jobs and caused Trillions in economic losses across the globe.. Al the Enemy of radical environmentalism Gore whose environmental conservatism goes back to the late 60s-early 70s...long before Perry came on the scene?

Please D, don’t forget to tell People who are looking into supporting Perry to get the facts about who he supported in 76 or even later in presidential elections.

Thank God Perry did not get the economics indoctrination served in our nation’s universities. He would have learned that Keynesian economics was good and Capitalism was bad. What he did learn in economics, got him elected as Texas Agriculture Commissioner. How many with business degrees can do that?

I realize you're reaching for every negative you can find. And that's fine. But Al Gore was pro-life when Perry supported him, and the global warming racket was only a twinkle in his eye. After that election cycle, Perry dropped the Democrats like a bad habit. Do I know what happened? No. Do you? Of course not. The fact is, like Bachmann, like Reagan, like many, many other conservatives, Perry realized the CONSERVATIVE PARTY was not with the Democrats any longer. It was with the Republicans, and he changed parties. This was a difficult thing for him to do considering that in TEXAS, the Democrat party represented conservatism since the CIVIL WAR. The '80s were tough for Texans, politically. We were used to electing Democrats for Governor, Dems to the legislature, but Republicans to national office. There have been books written on the subject of this bipolarity of the Texas electorate. But Perry DID switch, unlike the ultraconservative representative Charles Stenholm. He remained a Dem, and every Republican voted for him.

People are not interested in the truth here. They're interested in hating Perry. But you asked, so I told you. He is a Conservative, he is a devout Christian, and he will be our next president.

Al gore is documented to have been a radical eco long before Perry and spoke of global warming back in 83-84...before Perry supported him.

I don’t trust Perry either. I need to know lots more about his Road to Damascus conversion. Palin is the real deal, and we’ll get Bush III with Perry, I’m afraid. And we can’t afford another mediocrity at this juncture.

Yes, you are mistaken. He has always, ALWAYS been pro-life. Even when he worked for Gore. Gore was also pro-life then. I don't know what he is now.

As far as the global warming, think back to that time. Gore may have been talking about it, but no one was listening. It wasn't the issue it is today, and was certainly not part of the campaign. Perry was not his campaign manager. Perry was in Texas. He was working for the Texas leg of the campaign. They were not "close." Perry is a devout Christian. I know this to be true. He is even connected with the Stone-Campbell Movement. Don't know if you know what that is, but it's the same religion Reagan grew up with. He attends the Methodist church now, regularly.

I am hoping people would give information about what they know about Perry. I don’t know everything about him myself and I want to be able to trust him. However, when I see the things being posted on the Free Republic on the superficial level of school kid banter, I think I fell asleep at the keyboard and accidentally poked in the Huffington Post or the Democrat Underground. When I do some research into some of the slander going out about Perry, I sense that there is something diabolical going on. The facts do not match up with the slander. I trust much less what is going on than my distrust of Perry.

Thanks for your post. You have confirmed my own thoughts about Perry. I trust Perry much more than the attacks I am finding on the Free Republic. Perry’s stand on illegals, the Texas-Mexico highway, the tuition for children of illegals, etc. all have been twisted to the level of insanity. Soon we will read posts convinced that Perry is receiving instructions from a Mexican alien space ship over Houston.
