This article shows that even Liberals have survival instincts when it counts. Of course, he follows it up with self blame and flagellation once he's "safe". Reminds me of the liberals who flee Blue states for Red ones, but then lobby to recreate the same hell hole they left after they get settled.
People can be as liberal and giving as they want with their own selves and whoever else consents, but sanity stops when they try to force this point of view on their neighbor — not just persuade, but force. If liberals as we know them desire to be seen as the anti-bullies, which seems well intentioned enough, they only succeed in bullying society backwards. A good solid moral reference point is wanting in their world view. Sensible folks may differ about exactly where the point is, but they cannot deny one exists.

Maybe not the first but definitely among the victims. Mostly I see his type as enablers. I also can believe that he and his wife have never dealt with these ‘youths’ on a personal basis. They are just not in the same social class, ‘you know’.
In a way yes — but even the loving, giving Christian faith has sense built in, such as the importance of defending your fellows from attack. Jesus did recommend a sword or two be carried by the disciples once he and his supernatural direct protective presence was gone. Not to go on rampages, or to slay infidels, but to stop common criminals from surprising and freely ravaging the group. If individual Christians knowing choose to turn the other cheek for some good reason, wonderful (and even then don’t cast pearls to pigs) but they can’t choose that for other Christians who know nothing of what is going on.
It’s cheap enough to claim you turn the other cheek when you’re outta there, other cheek intact.
Had they stayed there and tried to reason with the punk, I’d give them credit for some guts as badly misplaced as they may have been.

I agree with you on root cause. I think the immediate corrective action is to become armed ASAP; but I would write myself a couple of long-term CAPAs to improve my training program, arm all immediate family members who meet the basic requirements (and include them in the training program), and spread the word.
Actually, I think they’ll just run and hide.
Case in point: rich liberals calling for higher taxes never simply donate money to the government. Why not? (In fact, they often evade their own taxes.)

I'd like to tell the author that when the settlers moved into a new area in the wilderness, they realized that there were dangerous creatures there. And if they wanted to survive, those creatures would have to be dealt with. Either that or be prepared to watch your family be taken, and probably yourself as well.
Well, it seems that in many cities, the "wilderness" has returned, ala "Lord of the Flies." And these wild, feral creatures must be dealt with as well.
Seeing that he's missed that fact indicates that he won't be surviving all that long, but in a way, maybe that's a good thing... Natural selection and all. Aren't leftists fond of Darwinism?

Shit like this happens because the people allow it and tolerate it. I live in the Plant City area. it does not happen in Plant City. Why? Because the people, both Black and white along with the police will not tolerate it. It may happen Lakeland. It probably happens in Tampa, and it happens in Saint Perersburg and Bradenton because the participants know that they can do it and get away with it. In Plant City, they know they can’t. We still have our problems, but nothing that can’t be handled and solved.
Me as well! If I had just been "punched in the head," and seen the car in front of me attacked and a window broken out, I'd have gone directly into "demolition derby mode," and targeted any "pedestrian" while trying to get away.
