Those industrial customers are on contract with ERCOT to have their power turned off during peak times. They get paid for it. They get paid when their power is shut off?
Go home and get paid too. Sounds great!

The on line capacity varies due to maintenance and availability, and wind.
The more we rely on wind power, the more this sort of thing will happen. There are very good reasons why the engineers at the power companies were not enthusiastic about wind power. The reason is when you need it most you don't have it. So this is the future of green energy.

We need to re-charge more Chevy Volts on the Texas power grid !!
125 sold last month , and GM claims a sales doubling of profit !... where did it come from ? Sales marketing = as soon as they come off the assembly line mark them as sold, and then send them off to the cardealers sales lot where they collect rust waiting to be bought ? (See Ponzi scheme)

Jerry Jones must not need power for his stadium. They haven’t cut off the nursing homes yet.

BTW, I'm not the author, nor is it my topic.
These companies get paid for what?

In 2006 TXU wanted to build 5 new power plants but the envirowackos including the democratic leaning mayor, Laura Miller, demanding that they be halted. The company was sold and the plants which would be on line now - are not avaiable to help . People forget we are growing and folks from Calif and NYC want a/c not heat stroke - build baby build.

Texas grid says risk of power outages rises amid heat (Possible rolling outagesWell no sh!t!!! When you are trying to cool the homes of legal citizens PLUS one and a half million invaders from ME-HEE-CO....
So when the power gets shut, those Americans with heat stroke will have to stand behind the illegals getting their free medical care at the hospitals.
You can always tell who the legitimate Americans are in places like that. Their the ones with the really angry look on their faces.

Some heavy consumption customers have agreed to have power shut off and are compensated by ERCOT when and if the load on the grid is near maximum capacity Sounds like a good deal!

Would that be the Laura Miller who is married to the father of Texas Re regulation?
The Laura Miller who is now the leader for a “clean coal” plant in West Texas?
I think it is...

Texas grid says risk of power outages rises amid heat (Possible rolling outages)There IS a downside to having independent grids, like Texas does.
Exactly what Hussein's Energy czar is heavily proposing for the entire country.
All the better to control another enormous segment of the Nation's critical infrastructure.
Not too subtle, are they.
