ook we are broke. The only way this is every going to be solved if we accept that every single thing in the US Federal Budget is going to have to be cut.
In a $687 billion Defense budget there is at least 10% that can be cut. Conservative are never going to win this war if they fall into this old DC trap.
DC always avoids making any serious spending cuts by pitting one interest group against the other. Defense Hawks against Entitlements, Domestic spending vrs security spending etc.
The only way to win this Budget battle is to take these tactics away from DC. EVERYTHING has to be on the table for at least some reduction.
The link to this excellent article by Walter Williams was posted earlier in this thread. Would that our politicians and spokesmen would memorize the numbers.
Paragraphs are your friend....
oops, sorry MNJohnnie, that polls was for all Americans, not Republicans.
Bohner’s problem is he has been in the DC bubble world too long. He really belives that what ever the Junk Media is saying is true. We need a whole scale house cleaning. 2010 was a good start, but it was only a start. The war against the DC Machine must go on.
Forced to watch CNN while trapped at the pile if dishes in Mom’s sink. The “Breaking News!” has been completely staged to announce a deal. Really clumsy.
CNN’s coverage has been great, last night and today. FOX has stunk..
“did anyone watch the coverage of the House debate last night? Incredible contrast between the firebrand TEApublicans and the outraged nail-spitting spendRATs.”
I kept trying to, at least the CSPAN segments featuring Tea Party Repubs, but it kept saying “This Program Is Not Available to View or Purchase”, even though they clearly were televised earlier. Aaaargh.
You left out Harry Reid. The dems won the Senate then, too.
It makes a difference.
Conservative really need to stop listening to the junk media. Mindless dogmatic lock step loyalty to a particular party is not a sign of winning but of stagnation.
All the real intellectual fervor and movement is on the GOP side. The Dems are stagnant and intellectually bankrupt. The are stuck in the politics of the 1970s.
They may win a political battle here and there but they are losing the war.
2010 was merely the start, not the culmination, of a political revolution in this country. The Tea Party won a victory here too.
Without the Tea Party movement the Debt Ceiling bill and the spending increases are passed automatically and without thought.
No matter what happens here, that the DC machine had to fight this hard for this Debt Ceiling bill is a sign they are losing the larger political war.
This was, to paraphrase Churchill after El Alemanin. "This is not the end, nor even the beginning of the end, it is however, the end of the beginning."
I’m hoping in 15 months its not even a contest but you never know. We are constantly stuck defending their lies about us.
Don't like the notion but I believe tis true.”
Consider that at least 2 USSC Justices will retire in the next administration. I can only believe they haven't retired because of the 0’s demand that only certified communists will be considered.
If the dems think the -Rs are blocking the budget, wait until we are faced with that.
And the thread is just nonsense. The usual "Cut everything but what I want spending on" that DC uses to avoid any real reforms. Sorry, I know this is going to piss off a lot of "Conservatives" but in a $687 billion defense budget there is at least 10% that can, and should, be cut.
EVERYTHING must be on the table. NO ONE can have sacred cows any longer
What I've seen of the "deal" it does not meet the criteria laid out publicly by the credit rating houses which wanted to see $4T in cuts which only "Cut, Cap & Balance" offered.
This "deal" should cause our rating to drop just as any "clean raise" of the debt limit--that Obama asked for and some Rats were still advocating yesterday--would have done.
It remains to be seen if S&P and Moodys have the guts to call WA out.
For the sake of the Country, I agree with you.
We’ve over spent, and now we have to make cuts. Since we’ll NEVER agree on what should and shouldn’t be cut, we just should cut it all.
Real reform will take a bigger conservative victory. Hell, even an across the board cut will take a big conservative victory!
“I am relieved to see someone who is understanding the strategy, since I have heard about all I care to about how stupid and weak Boehner is.”
Fear not, MM - a lot of us do, and agree with you. I post about it ad nauseum on various threads :-)))))))
