Yeunglings and my best friend have a family connection (long story() and I have been drinking it most of my life. It's too bad the Lager is so popular, because no one gets to taste some of their other offerings.
Other than that, I really like some of the Trappist ales I have had, but they are too expensive for me.
Tried it twice. Real sick the second time. Never again. We got Pabst or Bud (warm with blocks of ice) with our resupply in the field. Ever roll a beer on a block of ice to get it cold? Works a lot better than you might think. Yeah, it was a long time ago. 1st Cavalry Division 1970-71. Welcome home.
And welcome home to you. 1st Cav Div (3rd Bde Sep) 1971-72.
229th Assault Helicopter Bn, Lassiter AAF.
I remember the local ice plant ice. Stank of chlorine and mixed with straw. The plant owner’s daughter delivered the ice though, and she was nice (took her picture).
We real helicopter pilots (/s) thrived on PBR. Came in steel cans, churchkey a must.
Next month makes forty years I hit country. Sure doesn’t seem that long. Only retired this past January (break in service, warrant officer extension, long story). Glad I lasted to see our soldiers welcomed in airports, things were different for us.
