If that $17 billion is a 'supplemental' amount for two years, what on earth is the total cost of this program per year? I would have guessed the total Pell grant program was around $5 billion per year. Really strange that spending of this sort is in the budget 'reduction' bill.
No time to read it right now, but that looks interesting. Combine it with the “what use is a handgun against an army” article, and we might have the beginnings of something useful.
It has to be raised so that the “dream act” kids can get their share of the pie. Through no fault of their own they can’t get higher education, we mean American citizens are not sharing enough of our tax money. /sarc
I had to work to support myself and when I wanted to go back to college,I applied for a grant and was turned down because “my income was too high.” So I had to work full time, go to college full time but I finally graduated. So I was given an education early on about welfare—I have to work while those who have laid around on their lazy butts get to go school free of charge.
When I was working my butt off to get through college, I would stand in line at the check out and watch welfare queens buy the best meat and foods. I was buying soup, canned spaghetti and tuna fish.
