Something bad can happen?
Are you by chance in the precrime unit?
And no, I didn’t ask you to compare, I was inquiring as to the standards used.
“Or does Illinois still have overly stringent unconstitutional gun carry laws”
My point exactly. They are also over-zealously enforced.

Serf, Do Not Qusetion Your Masters! They have determined how you can carry a weapon you must obey. /s
The State says that this is how they must carry unless they get a permit. In some areas it is not possible to get a permit (or at least to controled by the issuing authority .)

I believe this kind of compartmentalizing mentality fosters the exact kind of tunnel vision demomstrated by two Polish police officers who cried like babies when they were held to account for murdering Father Jerzy Popieluszk just before the fall of the Jaruzelski regime.
Sorry I'm not sure I get the obscure reference. From what I read it was 3 polish intelligence agents that were responsible. I'm not sure how the political murder of the polish priest figures into the "tunnel vision demonstrated". I would need to know the intricacies of your obscure reference before I could agree or disagree.

Are you going to pay my salary for the rest of my life for becoming a martyr? When my job entails becoming an exact replica of the Nazi SS i.e. when my job becomes one that forces me to kill people on a whim, etc, then I'll become a martyr. Until then I'll keep enforcing THE SYSTEM whether I agree with it 100% or not.
You are the poster boy for what's wrong with LEO these days. And you don't seem to know very much about your job. You must be a rookie toadie.

Fair enough. Obviously my age is showing.
Let’s try another tac.
Are you personally familiar with ANY incident where a police officer voluntarily admitted to an error during the performance of duties that would have openned the department to legal action and/or risked their employment with that department?

Are you going to pay my salary for the rest of my life for becoming a martyr? Did Nathan Hale ask that question? Did Jefferson, Franklin, or Adams?
When my job entails becoming an exact replica of the Nazi SS
Oh, so you'll wait until they slap a snappy armband on you and order you to shove Jews into ovens before you'll actually stand on your hind legs and be a man. Interesting.
Let me know what jurisdiction you work in so I can avoid it. Thanks.

I need to forward some of my neighborhood watch emails. Last week, the cops were call because...well, let me quote...
Sounds like an issue with your neighborhood watch compadres and not so much the local police.

Do I agree with how the law works? NO. Do I have to enforce it? YES.I understand, but there is 'enforcement', and then there is ENFORCEMENT.
I trust, if you don't agree with a law, yours would be the 'enforcement'. I also trust that when choosing between wanton oppression, and backing the people, you will choose the people.

I don't either, but one of the first few posters called officer Lyons in the story, a "toadie", and I liked it. So, I applied it to you as well.

It makes as much sense as the idiots who will "allow" someone to have a firearm for home protection, but then demand that it be disassembled and locked up with the ammunition locked in a separate location.
Walking around with an unloaded pistol in plain view (especially when it's common knowledge that it's unloaded) simply invites some thug who is illegally in possession of a loaded firearm to come steal yours.

Even my son whos fireman with CCW knows when hes stopped, the first thing he does is flash his badge. It cuts right through all the hassle and BS.
Special treatment for government employees.
He should be ashamed for doing it, and you should be ashamed for bragging about it.
He never gets speeding tickets, either, huh?

No. I won’t.
You should care.
That fact that you admit your self-esteem is more important to you than your public perception is nothing but further evidence the antipathy good and decent Americans feel toward modern LEOs is richly deserved.

Would you prefer more open carry or less?
More concealed carry or less? (More than the current zero in Illinois.)

Whatever. I'm not Hale or Jefferson and CCW isn't the same as fighting for independence from a monarchy.
I'd apologize for not wanting to be unemployed yet having common sense when it comes to dealing with 2nd Amendment Activism, but I really don't care to apologize because I live in current reality, you know, 'it is what it is'.
As in, it's a CCW issue, it's not ethnic cleansing.
I don't agree with everything a 100%. So What? It's my job to enforce it. When they say "discretionary killing is not really constitutional but we're allowing it in state" and then I'm ordered to go round up my family and friends for cleansing or something, then I'll happily go on the unemployment line.
