Obama will veto anything the Republicans present that doesn't include raising taxes, err sorry.., revenues.

Republicans should offer to raise revenues by eliminating government subsidies of every kind if the budget is cut $500 billion for 2012. Agree to raise the debt ceiling too. Democrats would get what they are asking for and we would be on our way to getting ourselves out of this mess.

RE :”*cuts* are in the out years, after spending is already raised a few tril...thats so simple, only a retarded caveman should fall for it...lets just face reality, that humans are hardwirded to be greedy...it really doesnt matter what the ‘politics’ or ‘12 are for us, *whoever* holds the reigns that yrs will be unwilling to cut for fear of losing in ‘14, and repeat the process for ‘16, ‘18 etc...
we're circling the bowl, and there aint much left before the final slurp...the gotcha game will continue until it collapses, probably very quickly when it does...unfortunately, most pols are ‘floaters’ and have insulated themselves with so much fiber that somebody is prolly gonna hafta reach in and *fish em out* to fix the plumbing...

I dont expect a happy ending out of this, but I remember last year reading all the comments, many from some of you, about how Obama and Pelosi were radical Marxists intent on destroying this country, they hated America, we have to get Pelosi out of the Speakership and then Obama out of the WH or the end is near.... I saw it over and over again and it was so colorful.

So now we have a Republican house and a Republican bill created with the intent on calling Democrats bluff, and it's not great but it's was improved in the past day to get more conservatives to vote for it, and Obama, Pelosi, Reid are so intent on killing it that they claimed they lined up EVERY congressional Democrat to vote against it. And each liberal host on MSNBC was cheering it's coming failure, cheering House Republicans failure to pass a bill they want to see die, and it probably will at some point in the process.

So we join all those liberals to do what's right.??? ...so we got new House members saying they dont care if they get re-elected ??? so it doesnt matter if Democrats Obama and Reid take over again in 2013. It was unacceptable before but now that's just fine, who cares?? It seems to me insane. And next year it will be back to “We have to defeat Democrats or die” again. Like a yo-yo. I cant switch on and off that fast.

thanks for your articulate and reasoned response.

Your points are very well taken and you have presented the views in an accurate way. You are right on all the points.
Rand Paul articulated the same. Then I see Ryan and West argue the idea that Cut, Cap Balance won’t get through the Senate and to go for the 2012 election. I respect both of them very much.

This is the watershed. This is the defining moment..do we turn it around.

Wow!
What an excellant summary!

I agree with all of your post.

I too, like Perry as the combination you said. Also, he has the charisma and ability to take on Obama aggressively and head on, having years of political experience. He has been vetted for years and tried in the fire of politics.

The bad news is, we have an electorate, many of whom are too uneducated ( or don’t care) about politics or who are receiving so many entitlements. The entire mainstream media is pounding against us.

Whatever else, here is the good news.
We have a vibrant democracy.
We are actually dealing with the debt and entitlement issue in discussing it for the first time across the nation.
A larger portion of the electorate is understanding the debt crisis and tying it to unemployment and slow economic growth.
We have some very good Congress reps who are very conservative.

I get flamed a lot here too by posters who don’t want to look at reality and its limitations. I give them respect for their passion and conviction..just wish if I present another view, I wouldn’t automatically get name called.

RE :”Because as always the real cuts are in the out years....*cuts* are in the out years, after spending is already raised a few tril...thats so simple, only a retarded caveman should fall for it...

I been ripping these plans including the Ryan plan for putting all the tough spending cuts years out, but there is a practical reason why cutting some spending in the near term is difficult.

In the case of construction/development projects like : bridges, buildings, tunnels, or Republican desired spending tanks, fighters, bombers, missiles, it is much more practical to cut that type of spending a few years from now instead just by starting less of them, then cutting spending in the middle of those projects.

Years ago a study was made (and leaked to the media) as to why the F-22 cost 3-4 times it's original estimates. One reason found cited in the paper anyway, budget cuts in the middle of it's development delayed many critical capabilities which drove costs way up to add them back in later. Budget cuts ironically cost tax payers 10s of billions in that case.

Not saying that is the entire picture, but something worth knowing.

sorry SOL, but ive been in the 'the lesser of evils is still evil' camp for a looooong time now...

i said and still say, take a meataxe and chainsaw to the *budget* and get the collapse over with, while im still physically able to help my kids dig out...

the 100 bil they *promised* turned into actually what ??? a few million ???

statistically, a hundred bil isnt much more than a signifigant rounding error in itself, but you know its never gonna actually materialize...

we know that the rin-o-p, republicans, conservatives, tea party, call em whatever, could cure cancer & aids, feed and water the planet, balance the budget, supply ALL the entitlements with black ink for the next generation, destroy worldwide terror, build nukes and refineries, create jobs for 100% of the population, put a chicken in every pot and a car in every drive and a bigscreen on every wall, help old ladies cross the street and read stories to our kids, and theyd STILL LOSE THE PR WAR and be demagouged into battling neck and neck to eak out a majority...

they will always fear losing the 'next' election, and while bambam-pelousy-reid ank their ilk need to go, replacing em with a do nothing bunch of hacks that will slowly morph into beltway dinner party wannabes is unnacceptable...

cut the beast til it bleeds red ink, and maybe, just maybe a few of the dumbassed citizens will smell the coffee and the ship can be turned around...waitin fer next year wont work because 'tomorrow never comes'...

I say that when you find yourself directly allied with ALL of these : Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and all the marxist groups that support them on an important action (defeating a bill) it is best to check the personal/political compass because you might be unintentionally working with them to cut NOTHING as they are determined to, and then get nothing.

Yes there is a point.

By encouraging perpetual vigilance on the part of the electorate to check every public officials' deeds as well as electing committed Statesmen who value the Country's future and not the next election.

This Country is not working because the electorate “want everything.” which the politicians are pandering and dealing to provide. We need leaders (Although political suicidal in this entitlement era) to stand up to a portion of the electorate who throw temper tantrums when cuts are offered. In any case, hardly likely whether or not one is a conservative or central planner because they keep thinking about "the next election."

Once the public has a grip on extracting public monies to provide ongoing subsidies to themselves along with fiat currency and a Federal Reserve which offers a "blank check/printing press" to political panderers, "it's all over."

THE MARKETS don’t care about the Debt ceiling, they care about our actual Debt.

Okay, under Boehners plan will the actual debt go up or down and by how much?

Eff the “bipartisan” rubbish. Hold the line!!

We posted within 2 minutes of each other. And we both posted your second imperative.

A bunch of people here do not understand that this is not only war, but survival of the nation is at stake.

Freeze the Ceiling...that would mean over one hundred billion dollars saved every month.

Elementary to everyone but those inside the Beltway and those who suckle from their teats.

I understand your POV as well.

I guess all this "Tea Party" stuff embolden conservatives to say "The buck stops here, right now with our HOR". Too bad we wasted opportunities pre 2007.
