The Old State House, Boston, Massachusetts.
On July 18, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was proclaimed from the east side balcony to jubilant crowds by Col. Thomas Crafts (one of the Sons of Liberty). At one o'clock Col. Crafts rose in the Council Chamber and read it to the members.[7] Then, fellow patriot Sheriff William Greenleaf attempted to read it from the balcony, but he could only muster a whisper. Col. Crafts then stood next to the sheriff and read it from the balcony in a stentorian tone. For most people, it was a festive occasion, as about two-thirds of Boston residents supported the revolution.~Wikipedia

I absolutely hate when it rattles the windows. There are a few things I can think of that I don't like rattling windows. ;-)

Grandpa grew up on a farm in Ottawa Lake, Michigan. He told us to look for green looking skies and watch if the trees turn their leaves upside down. The leaf thing has something to do with air pressure which can signal conditions for a tornado. All the kids on my block knew when to head for the hills. LOL

We plan to take some trees out in the next year or two. We had trees come down on our old house a couple of times, and it was not fun. One tree bounced off the house and came down on my jeep. It almost totaled it, but unfortunately not. It was never the same after that.
In this house, we had a nice clearing, but since we moved here in 2002, the trees seem to be encroaching daily.

We had lightning strike the lightning rods on the barn. THAT was an experience! The hair on your arms even stands up and we could feel the percussion.

We have a tree, a hemlock, that is very tall and right up against the house but the landlord won’t remove it. It won’t fall on the house but it’s roots will do damage to the foundation when it comes down.

Hemlocks are prone to that asian beetle infestation. It’s a big problem here.

Yup. It’s just north of Sylvania, Ohio which is just outside Toledo. It’s in the next township over from Toledo in Michigan. The VFW post in Sylvania is named for my Grandpa’s brother. It’s just down the road from their old farm but in a different state. Part of GGrandpa’s farm was in Michigan and part in Ohio. Border wars. :-)

We get so many bugs from other countries that do damage. It’s kind of unavoidable. Then there’s the non-native noxious weeds!
