Some Republicans push back against Boehner's plan to raise debt limit

Boehner’s plan, assuming 2% GDP growth, will take us to a Debt to GDP ratio of 87.7%. Historically, economies start grinding to a halt at 90%. Maybe Boehner’s getting his advice from Greece.

Yep. Way too many Freepers have fallen for Boehner’s act. With no real cuts to speak of, but lots of deceptive claims for cuts, and the potential for an expedited path to increased taxes, his plan isn’t anything like he makes it out to be.

Which is just like the stunts he pulled with the CR.

Meanwhile, CCB, which is backed by almost three-quarters of the electorate got no support from him or McConnell other than as a sideshow after they had signalled support for and were working on other, more Democrat-friendly plans.

But people fall for it.

The premises of every proposal has been X increase in Debt for X cuts in deficit growth over 10 years.

Not an X percent cut in spending but X percent cut in deficit growth.

None of these plans ends without the bankruptcy of the USA.

We don’t need a “poker player” right now. We need a principled man who understands the economic calamity we face. Why can’t he say, “The President is lying to America and shamefully scaring SS recipients. HE is the only person who could stop SS checks, and if he does, he would be doing so illegally.” WE need to write the narrative and talking points instead of the Failure. Bob
