When 0 says he wants to create shovel-ready jobs, he means jobs ready to be buried.

I’m sure the UAW members are lining up to dive under the bus for Obama.

“Fifty six (miles-per-gallon) is a sweet spot that is both achievable, reasonable, highly beneficial in terms of as economic standpoint, and will meet the president’s goals of dramatically reducing our dependence on foreign oil, and violates the laws of physics unless we all drive those little death trap “smart” cars. Of course, obastard will still be driven around in his tank/limo crossover...

MICHIGAN PING LIST
Please freepmail me if you wish to be added or dropped from the mitten ping.
But supporters of the increase, like Jack Gillis of the Consumer Federation of America, insist it's doable. "Fifty six (miles-per-gallon) is a sweet spot that is both achievable, reasonable, highly beneficial in terms of as economic standpoint, and will meet the president's goals of dramatically reducing our dependence on foreign oil,....
Granted I only googled for a few mintues...but I have seen no evidence that this Gillis clown is any kind of automotive engineer. But he sure quacks like a social engineer, so I suppose that's some kind of qualification, right?

Where is the energy coming from? Or better yet, where is it(the mass) extracted from? There is not enough energy right now to transfer to electric vehicles, Period. We need more coal, nuclear, solar, wind, hydroelectric, and whatever they think up tomorrow to power an 'electric automobile society' here and now, and it still would not be enough.
So they must take away mass. From your vehicle. Cardboard boxes with minibike motors maybe.

How would this guy know if it was technically possible to meet this increase in standards. I know nothing of this man Jack Gillis but I'm willing to wager he knows nothing about automobiles. I'll wager he's never changed a set of spark plugs. This is just the type of person Obama listens to and not those who really understand autos. Yes, I know that this guy doesn't work for Obama but he's cut from the same cloth. I'll do a bio on this clown and see what he's all about.

This is the beauty of the socialist tenant of central planning. You have people making decisions about things that they have absolutely no understanding of.
One government agency mandates the use of fuel with lower potential energy, meaning you have to burn more of it in order to travel the same distance, yielding lower mile per gallon ratings, while at the same time another government agency doubles the mile per gallon requirements for automobiles.
You gotta love it!
