Did you not hear Moody’s threat?

That is serious.

However, no deal should be supported with tax increases.

Boehner will not be Speaker in the next congress whether he caves or not. One has to read the “tea leaves” Johnny Boy.

Well, General Washington, Sir, it was great while it lasted. Sorry to have disturbed your peace. Blessings.

I think the default is mostly a scare tactic, just like TARP and the Stimulus.

And if we do default, then someone will finally have to make some tough choices with a limited set of options.

It could prove productive.

Let it happen for a few days and see what happens. The dems are willing to take a chance. So should the GOP. If the GOP is wrong, they’ll take a hit like they always do since the media is left wing. If nothing bad happens the dems will look like the America haters that they are.

Don't you know that Moodys is in total bondage to Obama after they so badly blew their ratings on the banks and AIG's during the panic of '08? All the rating companies are scared of those ramifications IMO!!!

They'll exclaim anything he says just like sock puppets!!!

If I was trying to buy a used car and the only two salesman on the planet were Boehner and Obama, I’d RUSH to haggle with Boehner.

Boehner: “Well here’s the bottom line, friend. My rock bottom price I’ll let this beauty go for is $20,000. Take it or leave it. But, well, if you decide you’re going to leave it... I’ve got a back-up price. But I really really think you should take my rock bottom price... it’s what’s right for both of us! (wink wink)”

If you don’t make it clear you’re willing to deal with the consequences of walking away from the table... YOU DON’T BELONG AT THE TABLE!!!

Only losers compromise, John.

Are you a loser?

Demonstrate such, and you will lose, and so will we.

Choose wisely, I expect this is your last chance, and the last chance of everyone in this failing country.

I remember that you cried when you were awarded the speakership.

Is this what you intended to do with it? Compromise with those intentionally destroying our country? If so, that means you are also intentionally destroying it.

Is that why you were crying, John? Because you knew you had your chance to aid and assist the destruction of America?

Sure looks that way to me.

I heard that as well and he was pushing the Cut Cap and Balance plan. However Boehner did mention if the above did not pass they would go to Plan B. Rush asked him what plan b was and I did not really hear a concise answer to the question before I got out of my car. Did you hear what plan b was by any chance?

Boehner on Rush's show today:

I'm concerned about the nation defaulting on its credit rating.

Boehner did not misspeak. He simply does not understand what is going on; a rough idea, perhaps, but not a firm grasp on the subject. Combine this with the absence of a conservative philosophical foundation and we have a problem.

My only hope is that Cantor can guide this sleepwalker through the balance of the negotiations.

Like I said in a reply I posted on a thread about a month ago; it really frosts me that these spineless pantywaists go through all the phony baloney shadow-boxing for soooo long, only to drop trou, bend over and grab their ankles when the chips are down anyhow!

Why didn’t the sorry creeps just do it immediately on the day they were sworn in and save all the BS and theatrics, when they knew in their hearts that when push came to shove they would fold like a cheap umbrella, anyhow! I hope the good people in Ohio have a good person lined up to PRIMARY against Boner the next time he’s up for reelection.

But, facing reality, I don’t think he or anyone actually cares if they’re voted out. It would decrease the perqs and under the table money they all siphon off over the years they manage to stay in office; but once they’re out, they get a full-salary pension and lifetime free healthcare, etc.

“as an Aug. 2 deadline looms on extending the debt limit.”

Aug. 2 deadline is a crock!

True - the whole idea behind the the Laffer curve is to increase revenues while keeping marginal rates low.

I can understand peoples' pessimism about this. However, 3 or 4 trillion in the debt right off the bat with a revamp of the tax system several years down the road? If the debt is properly dealt with, and, if there is a change in the White House in 2012, it could be entirely possible that the economy could turn around and generate new tax revenue so that the future adjustment may be unnecessary.

Having said that, I don't know how successful either side might be in selling this to their respective parties.
