I’ve been to a half dozen Indy car races there.
It’s a great venue, typical 1.5 mile track where you can see everything.
Main straight grandstands built into a big hillside so you actually walk downhill from the entrance to most seats.
Easy access from Indy, Cincy, or Louisville.
From Norm’s pic above, it looks like a beautiful area, too. I guess things change. I suppose the really old time purists (heh, yah me) miss the dirt tracks, the little South Boston’s and such and all... this could be a great venue for the fans, such as was Las Vegas to us mountain westerners, and we’ll see this weekend what the big dawgs can do with it.
Yeah one of my favorite tracks is Raceway Park (now Lucas Oil Raceway) here in Indy (5/8 mile).
Sadly they’re losing the Nationwide race (held since 1982) to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2012.
IMS is a lousy stock car track.
Raceway Park is an awesome stock car track.
Kind of a bummer.
Don’t interrupt me right now as I am working on a Wine Conveyance that will revolutionize the entire industry and I want to assure you that you are high on the Need to Know list.

Actually, there was a gas war my whole time in high school (two years - nother story) and for the most part, gas was 13.9
By 69, smokes were .25 in the college student union of the small private religious college I attended and I don’t remember how much a sixer was because we bought kegs and I don’t remember how much they were because we bought kegs. Did I mention we got Frank Zappa to jam in the union basement? Yes. We didn’t play because we were, um, awful, but he brought his gang, and they were amazing. They jammed jazz all night - nary a vocal. I had all of his albums, but everything they played was original as far as I know. Vey cool.
Enough. Do you have pics (or Daguerrotype print or woodblock carving or whatever) of your race car you raced at P’Orford?
I will place an order for six Bender’s Finest Red. Please charge it to my antiques account. FedEx shipping please, so I can have it on Saturday for the race. You’ve got my numbers. Thanks, you’re the best.
