As I recall, Perry said he didn't think the Arizona law would work well in Texas. They are working on a similar law for Texas in special session, but with changes to some of the specifics. That is one of the great things about federalism - it allows different states to try different solutions to social problems, solutions that are tailored to their specific situations.
I don't know enough about Perry to know if I would support him, but these kind of arguments don't carry much weight.
I don't really care if a president is someone I would want to have a beer with - I want someone with strong conservative principles and a good track record. Who cares if Perry is a jerk or a tool - can he lead the country in a conservative direction?
Did you sign uop today to tell us that old, washed up news?
TTC was never begun and neither was the vaccination. (which had a parental OUT clause)
Perry...Bachmann....Palin...Just imagine “hit pieces” the Soros/Obama/DNC/media complex will have to churn out each day. We’re talkin’ about the “Liberal media full employment act” of 2011.
Perry has a concealed carry permit, I wouldn’t ask him that.
Texas has done well throughout the years that Perry has been governor. He's made some mistakes, but I believe he will listen. We've got to find a fiscal conservative and frankly if he does do away with the DOE and EPA he's a saint in my eyes. We also need to make sure where he stands on illegal immigration. We need for the federal government to seal the borders, remove the illegals and move us forward and at this point we don't seem to have that in the folks who are currently running.
[ I wouldnt call Perry a Progressive. (maybe a globalist) ]
ALL progressives ARE globalists.. Duuuugh..
Please tell us which Texas highways have been "auctioned off". I'm an avid news reader and haven't seen that anywhere and would like to know.
I don't really have a dog in this hunt, as the Republican Party left me when the US Senate refused to have a real trial for Clinton. I figured out I didn't need to be in the "party" to vote for their choice, especially when voting for the lessor or two evils as has been the case for a couple of decades now.
But I do recognize the GOP needs to not only get their Presidential candidate right, they need to get a super majority in the Senate and add some more house seats if we have any chance of saving this republic. I don't hold much hope or faith that will happen as there are far too many of the "old guard" Republicans still in office.
But you are correct in the impossibility of finding the perfect candidate.
Many of our younger citizens either forgot or never knew that when the “Dixie-crats” controlled the Democrat Party, it was the “conservative party” and the GOP was the liberal party controlled by northeast blue-bloods.
Well we know Perry will shoot a Coyote. Aren’t they kissin cousins to journalists? LOL!!
But that’s what Perry’s order did: it set up a requirement. Just because there’s a loophole a way to “say no,” in the governor’s parlance doesn’t mean the requirement doesn’t exist.
My main thing is , we have to be careful in 2012. We can not
afford to nominate a conservative pretender like Bush. Sure , we get rid of Obama with any of republicans in the race. But with so much at stake , we have to look pass rhetoric and look deep into these guys records. Only a true patriotic conservative with some type of executive experience will turn this country around. Perry to me would be a conservative but another Bush Clinton Bush globalist. I don’t trust globalist.
No journalist are more weasel-like. ;)
It is not true, that it is not true, no matter how many times you repeat it.
Opt Out=Mandatory for most kids.
If the President could abolish these departments on his own, explain why Reagan did not do it. Abolishing DOE, was a campaign promise, as well as the double nickel speed limit, which did abolish.
So your definition of mandatory is “most of the time”?
