The latest studies in criminal psychology are finding that some people, the ones who commit the majority of violent crimes, have different brain structures. For example, words with heavy emotional meaning, such as ‘blood’ and ‘rape’ that cause activity in one part of the normal person’s brain illicit no response in the violent prone individual. Such people require a much higher level of activity to get a response from their brains.
And this brain difference is found in children by the age of 3 or 4. I would bet that this young monster is one of those with abnormal brain function.
The question then becomes, if we can determine by age 5 that someone is prone to violent behavior, should we do something? And if so, what??
That's not even a legitimate question. Brain structure or not, everyone is still innocent until proven guilty. The potential for violent behavior is just that potential. Some will live up to their potential and others won't.
Ummm...no.
Okay, but what if we know in advance that someone is very likely to commit a violent act and that individual kills someone. Wouldn't we be, at least, partially responsible to that act?
Note: I'm playing Devil's advocate here. The questions is, to quote our dear leader/s "Beyond my pay grade."
And FYI, England now is allowing people who can be proven to be psychopaths to be confined even if they have not committed any violent crimes. So, if locking up people who may becomes violent something we would should do to protect the innocent victims of violent acts??
That’s because you’re not conservative in the least. Now please respond to post 40.
Yeah, yeah, we know. I want to increase all the taxes, kill all the babies, marry all the homos, and disband the military because I’m not conservative in the least. Tell another lie Pinochio.
No, you just don’t want to punish murderers as God commands they be punished. You want ‘society’ to try to ‘rehabilitate’ them somehow using tax money. Yea, that’s real ‘conservative’ alright.
That's fine. I suppose anyone can be "rehabilitated" too. Just do all the "rehabilitation" within the walls of a prison. Someone who at age 12 goes and murders a toddler does NOT belong out on the streets for any reason. It is not right to increase the risk to public safety because of the perceived virtues of a grand social experiment.
What an unfortunate name for the judge. :)
You suppose too much. My comments were concerning children, and children alone.
