I don't know much about the Chilean retirement system, but this seems like a good move from a political standpoint. Anytime you start talking about reforming social security, the Democrats pull out the "scare the elderly" tactic and accuse Republicans of wanting to throw the elderly out in the street. By pointing at the program in Chile as the model, Cain can blunt those attacks simply by stating "It didn't happen in Chile, it won't happen here."
Lots of people have good, sound plans...but actually making it happen takes way more than what a president can get done.
This guy is the darkhorse I tell you...I think he can surprise and win the whole thing
Abso-frickin-lutely.
With the big headlines he made at that debate, he can win the whole thing.
And unlike most of the others, I think he CAN beat Obama.
born December 13, 1945 in Memphis, TN (Meets the Jus Soli Requirement)
Parents were
Luther Cain Jr., born March 16, 1925 in TN, died March 29, 1982 in Atlanta, GA
Lenora Davis, born July 27, 1925 in GA, died August 20, 2005 in Atlanta, GA
Both parents were US Citizens at the time of his birth (Meets the Jus Sanguinis Requirement)
Herman Cain is a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN unlike Comrade Barry Soetoro aka Barack Hussein Obama.
Now THIS is getting to the core!!
Every one of those points is a winner for generating massive amounts of economic activity. The 5-pronged approach is very Reaganesque... common sense solutions!
Now, the key is getting the messaging out to the voting public in terms they can understand. We have a lot dim bulbs in the electorate.
Go Herman!!!!
I agree. The more I hear him speak, the more I like him.
Besides, the mere thought of seeing how the MSM will attack him is great.
With a GOP majority and some leadership on his part, I think at least #1, #2, and #3 is attainable.
I have reservations about #4 however...and while I love his Social Security ideas (mentioned at the bottom of the article), I think he needs to make those “back burner” issues until maybe the 3rd year of his first term (assuming he would win). As was discussed on another thread yesterday and today, ANY talk of reforming SS scares people right now, mostly because of overall uncertainty. Give us a few quarters of good growth and UE rates under 7%, THEN bring up the issue.
We’ll have to wait and see.
This is what we need, clear and defined plans from someone from the business world who has to actually show results for their plans, not just political rhetoric.
We haven’t had a real dark horse in a LONG time.
Now it's time for a black AMERICAN president.

I like what I’ve heard him say so far. I’m concerned about how he’ll stand up under a lengthy, savage, unrelenting attack by the entire Democrat swarm. He’ll scare the heck out of them: a conservative who happens to be black will peel some of the black community’s votes away from Obama. If they perceive him to be a viable candidate, they’ll commit all of their resources to destroying him politically.
Get him nominated and I’ll put that bumper sticker on my work truck.
Taxes are lower than they’ve ever been. Pizza and burgers sounds about right.
Good ideas for a start but we need to: 1) Eliminate the income tax and the IRS and go to a national sales tax. 2) Allow offshore drilling near the coast all around the country. Also open up drilling and shale oil production anywhere in the country. 3) Have Congress in session for 6 months in Washington and the rest of the time they have to stay in their districts. 4) No person may give $$ or anything else of value to any candidate running for Congress unless that person is legally registered to vote for the candidate. 5) Eliminate the Dept. of Energy, the FDA, The Dept. of Education, the Ad Council, etc. 6) Abolish all nonprofit corporation laws and only allow tax breaks for “charities” that clothe, house or feed humans. 7) Eliminate all foreign aid. 8) Shut down most offshore military bases and move them to the southern border states. 8) Declare war on Mexico and take the country. 9) Sell off 80% of all federally owned lands and properties. 10) Dissolve the TSA......
I could go on and on.......

In 2004, as a U.S. senator from New York, Hillary Clinton argued in The New York Times that the current health care system is unsustainable, and she offered several solutions Her article also mentioned areas of agreement with one-time opponent Newt Gingrich, and likewise Gingrich has expressed agreement with Senator Clinton on some aspects of health care, including a bill to modernize medical record keeping.

One key turning point against the Clinton plan was a televised town hall meeting in April 1994. During the event, President Clinton was challenged by businessman Herman Cain on the resulting effects on small businesses.[19]

The president of the United States has a vote that is equal to 268 leggisl;ators. 1 greater than half the 535 members of the House and Senate. A President that is willing to shut everything down and knock the whole house of cards down could effectively get anything he wants done. He simply has to use the power of the Veto and executive orders.
A smart ruthless leader could get all manner of cutting and spending reforms done. Most of which would be embarrassed by just enough members of the congress to help him get it done.
Look at all the Community Dis organizer has done to destroy the country in only two years.
I’d like to see him get up with Sarah Palin and come up with a similar plan for energy independence.
Since he is strongly opposing all of Obama’s programs, it is quite obvious that he is a racist.....wait....oops....how about oreo?...uncle tome?....OH WELL....
