I make Dirty Martinis, add a “little” olive juice.
I have a goofy recipe I drink every Friday night to excess. I found it in a 1940’s cook book from Maine.
You take a couple cups of gin and pour vermouth in till it becomes the color of straw. Put it in the shaker full of ice with an orange peel. Shake it until you get a frosty rind on the shaker. I usually put almond filled olives in the iced martini glass with a dash of the brine for my particular tastes. It sound weird but the orange peel really adds something. I once read that in the olden days martinis were 50/50 gin and vermouth so this is of that era though by the time you get to the straw color you are probably only at 25-30% vermouth.
