All of this will go nowhere and lead to nothing, if Congress was serious, they would IMMEDIATELY ARREST AND HOLD WITHOUT BAIL ALL PERSONS INVOLVED, Yes congress has POLICE POWERS, They can even hold their own trials whenever they DAMN WELL PLEASE, short of that this is all for Show.

If they are going to sign off on this stuff but the signatures don’t mean anything, why bother?
To: mad_as_he$$
There is no way that this is just a local BATFE op. They had to request additional funding for it.
This was going on at the same time that the BATFE IG was looking into another gun running investigation that spent $18 million in additional funding to produce 6 arrests and 12 guns.

So I can begin taking every deduction the IRS allows because the presence of my signature doesn’t indicate my involvement. Good to know.

A mid level manager with the written record would go a long way here.

This thread has just added to the
FreeRepublic "bang list" (firearms interest list) by adding the keyword "banglist".
Any time a firearms-related thread is created on FreeRepublic, please be sure to add the "banglist" keyword to it so that interested FReepers don't miss it. Just a suggestion.

DOJ officials routinely approve thousands of wiretap applications without knowing the specifics of the cases theyre signing off on. I'm no lawyer, but I'm pretty sure that's patently illegal.

Actually, I heard a week or two ago that the BATFE director in DC called all the regional directors to town for a "special meeting". All that is EXCEPT the guy in AZ. He figured he was going to be thrown under the bus and lawyered up promptly. I haven't heard any followup since, but he could be the key. I'm sure he's watching his 6 verrrrrry closely.

I’m with Lurker. That sounds like an admission to a crime.

All who have done that should be fired immediately for irresponsibility.

Did they used to work for mortgage security firms??
From personal experience, I know that is a complete crock, at least as things worked back in the 80s. Although monitorings were authorized by an associate AG, I know of specific instances where AG Meese wanted to know what was going on in a particular location and those events had NOTHING to do with exporting guns to a foreign country.

That's conspiracy to deprive people of their Civil Rights (4th Amendment). If they don't know specifics of the case, there can be no probable cause to wiretap.
