Graybeard....are you old enough to remember the debates between Nixon and Kennedy. If so, then I think you might want to shed your argument right there. Those that heard the debate said Nixon won. Those that saw the debate, said Kennedy won. We’re in a visual society now, that’s the reality. Remember all the photos of Kerry looking like a complete retard trying to catch a football...or Dukakis on the tank. We’re a visual society

Taft..LOL...how many people in this country back then that voted even knew what the man looked like? Not many.

Babygene....two responses. One, McCain was a dolt from day one, as was Dole, as were many others over the years. You have to nominate a guy that has a chance to win. Bachman has NO CHANCE. She can’t even win her own state for Christ sake.

What you are hearing from me and a lot of pundits, many of which the “pure” people here don’t like (Roves of the world), is that preventing Obama and liberals from steamrolling this country means you have to win elections. Sometimes winning elections means putting in a candidate that may not be as pure to the principles that you would desire, and thus the tradeoff.

That’s what I’m saying. I’d prefer RINO Romney over Obama. That’s what I’m saying. Would I prefer Palin over Romney and Obama...of course. I’d love to have gold toilets, too. It ain’t going to happen.

Palin and Bachmann would both get annhilated in a general election. No amount of wishful thinking will make it otherwise.

Sad thing is, the Republican Party so lacks leadership that no one prominent can stand up to the Black Messiah, who has the backing of television (and that’s all that counts in dumb-*ss America).

I agree, especially after seeing what an inexperienced, not so manly Obama is doing to our country. I really think inexperienced females are going to be a hard sell.

A billion dollars in television advertising was spent convincing bed-wetters that the Black Messiah was the One.

Tina Fey destroyed Palin forever (not to mention her quitting halfway through her governorship and saying things like “Putin raising his head above our airspace”).

I actually think Bachmann might have a chance as VP, given a strong male lead. She’s attractive and really lets her rip.

Television controls most of the voters in this country. Fortunately, more and more people are rejecting this influence, but it’s going to take a while before frightened, divorced white women stop worshipping at the liberal altar, if you know what I mean.

Respectfully disagree. Romney’s first loss to McCain came well before Florida. Romney lost New Hampshire to McCain after leading in the polls for a long time and gave McCain an opening.

I too think Palin is done as far as president or vp.

Not sure about Bachmann. Yes attractive and yes she let her rip, but I am not convinced she is smart enough. Time will tell.

I am a frightened, divorced white woman who doesn't worship the liberal altar, but I want someone with BALLS and I want someone who is very knowledgeable about economics, macro and micro, and who can get the smart people on his/her team. Our next president also needs to be able to tell stupid people what is going on and how he/she is going to fix it. This would mean he/she needs to make sure he/she controls the message, not the media.

BO is an idiot and has surrounded himself with idiots.

Mitt Romney is all about slick marketing. The sales pitch runs something like this “Yeah Mittens is a RINO, but he can win in the general because the very same qualities make him radioactive with the conservative base makes Mittens electable in the general”. Oddly I remember the same sales pitch about McCain. That didn’t turn out very well did it?

I think Allen West is Presidential material and the kind of man we need to save the country, but right now he is just a first term Congresscritter. No one from that position has ever been nominated, AFAIK.

Sorry about the comment about divorced white women. Central NC is full of Yankees who lost their husbands, support Obama as their new Savior and they’ve pretty much turned this state blue. There’s thousands of them. I live on a street corner, and all three of the facing corners house someone abandoned by husbands who ditched them after moving here thinking good jobs were waiting for them. Ha.

I don’t think Obama is an idiot. He’s a lawyer, an empty suit, and like his three predecessors, a puppet of Big Everything. The payoff for him and Marie Antoinette is millions of dollars (which he’s already seeing: remember the BS Nobel Peace Prize?). All he has to do is go along and get along, as they say back home.

Herman Cain was a member of the Federal Reserve board.

Read "The Creature from Jekyll Island" and then see if you would vote for someone who was granted membership in THAT exclusive li'l club.

Oh I didn't take offense to the divorced white woman comment, but you are correct about some. I am educated/smart, very strong and confident. A lot of women are not like me. That being said, a female by default is weak and if they cannot convince women voters they are smart enough and tough enough to handle the job, they won't get the scared, divorced white woman vote. They also won't get the vote from smart women, divorced or not. Palin comes across stronger than Bachmann, but like you said, she is done. Neither comes across smart enough for president and to be honest with you, I don't think VP either. Palin looked good enough for VP last time, but we were comparing her to Obama and McCain. Now people would be comparing everyone against the toughest economic situation this country has ever faced. Against that, most look weak......UGH.

Both names.

What seems to be the reason behind that?

Because Herman Munster might run too.

Hell of a lot more than two!

I like Bachmann, but she doesn’t -WOW- me. Of course none of the other candidates do either, so she will likely get my primary vote if she runs because she’s the only one of them focused on the constitution and like a laser beam on getting rid of BummerCare. I want that thing gone along with Sarbanes-Oxley and Dodd-Frank. No excuses.

I won’t vote, again. If the GOP didn’t get the message in the last presidential election, I’ll be happy to send it again. My days of holding my nose and voting for the best of two evils are long gone. Voting that way takes us to the same place, it’s just a slower journey. Put up a candidate that is worthy of my support if they want my vote.
